Re: Antscope2 not working properlyin nanovna #antscope2

Nice to see this good news, waiting for it, nice software .

AA 600 Calibration

I am measuring several objects with varying connections & freq ranges. It is tedious to re-calibrate each time I make a change. Antscope 2 will load a calibration file but there does not seem to be a way to save several different files. It seems that it only saves the last one to the PC. Any sugghestions appreciated!

Re: AA-230 DRIVERS NOT LOADING on NEW WINDOWS 10 PC

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Pat, you can always ask me.

Typically, no drivers are needed.
But sometimes Windows 10 sometimes shows its "nasty character" and refuses to install the driver.
For data exchange, the analyzer uses a chip manufactured by FTDI. Therefore, the latest driver is on the site of the manufacturer of this chipset.

Have a nice day!

AA-230 DRIVERS NOT LOADING on NEW WINDOWS 10 PC

I have a new Dell Desktop PC and cannot get the USB drivers to install.? When I plugin the analyzer with USB cable the computer shows the drivers being installed successfully.? Looking at Windows Device Manager, it shows the AA-230 but says ¡°DRIVERS NOT AVAILABLE¡±.? All works well on my old Windows 7 machine and on a new Acer laptop running Windows 10.? I¡¯ve updated the firmware on the analyzer with 1.5.14 and still have the issue.? I have ¡°REMOVED DEVICE¡± from the PC several times and then reconnected the analyzer with the same results. I¡¯ve successfully installed drivers for other ham gear on this PC and the driver issue appears to be unique to the AA-230 ZOOM analyzer.? Attached are 3 images showing PC information.

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Ken,

Yep, you've nailed the quandary of Yuri's "wait and see" approach to Rig Expert's advertising BT and offering new BT products but not actually making BT work as the adverts promise. If you look up Yuri on QRZ.com, he is from the Ukraine according to his bio. So it is sort of personal to him. But it also does not look like $61USD would bother him much with his multi tower antenna farm and large sail boat. Since he looked me up and saw I was retired after a long career, I guess it fair game to reciprocate. But Yuri's been silent after his drive-by admonitions here.

I'm sorry that RE's staff is significantly down due to Covid-19 issues. But they could issue a public acknowledge that they are short-handed right now and that there IS a problem with their BT hardware or software (or both). That is just the right thing to do. Hams tend to have some compassion on these things but no one likes to be deceived. I'd bet that Yuri would be upset if his sailboat dealer promised certain features on his boat that just were not true...

Hi Yuri

I think the issue at hand is that we did pay extra for Bluetooth feature. ?Mine was $299 -vs- a $238 price listed after I discovered the problem. ? ?There is a limit for free returns. ?If this is a software or upgradeable firmware issue, then I¡¯m happy to wait for it and I¡¯ll peel the protective covering off of the screen and use it. ? If it is a hardware issue, then I want to know this in time to return it, get my $ back, and buy the cheaper model or wait for the newer revised model with working BT chip.?

Pretty simple. ?Someone at RigExpert should have already been able to tell us if we have hardware lemons or if this is a problem that we can fix with through the USB port. There-in lies Frank's frustration and mine. Being patient much longer comes with a cost. ?$61 is a substantial amount of money for some of us.?

Cheers!

Frank,

Yes you did help out with the diagnosis of this problem .? I only use Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 and I appreciate your help on testing on Windows 10.? All versions of Windows had the same problem of unreliable Bluetooth connections and dropping data packets during transfer.? ?

The recent version 1.25 firmware patch from RigExpert for the AA-55 Zoom and a new release of software for Android did resolve? the connection and data losses on Android BUT the transfer speed is now 3X slower and barely acceptable (in my opinion). I rarely use Android and use windows in my hamshack.

The 1.25 firmware patch for the AA-55 and the AntScope2 for Windows beta version Alex posted in early December has timeout? issues and will drop the Bluetooth connection.? I posted about this in the other topic and? Alex never did reply to your posts or mine even though he replied to other questions in this group.? ??

I know this is not a hardware problem because the Canadian distributor ("Rig Expert USA and Canada") was kind of enough to loan me another unit for testing.? ?It was the Canadian distributor who actually contacted RigExpert in the Ukraine to look into this problem after I could not get them to respond to my concerns.? I appreciate what he did to support me.?

I notified RigExpert technical support about this problem back in early September and posted on this group about this Bluetooth issue.? I too bought my AA-55 Zoom BT specifically for the Bluetooth feature over other products in the marketplace.? The slow data transfer speed on Windows and the sporadic dropping of connections makes it frustrating to use this device.? I have given up on ever seeing it fixed properly and now just leave it in a box on the shelf and will probably sell it in the future to someone who doesn't care about Bluetooth.? A shame really since it is quite accurate and has a nice user interface.? There is a way to add Bluetooth to my NanoVNA and I will use that instead.?

Re: AA650 ZOOM no Com Port nor Bluetooth connect

Yuri,

¡°If you can help, please do so, like Doug VED7DXK is doing.¡± Did you actually read my post? Doug AND I have done extensive testing. We have sent Alex actual data files. What have you done? Doug, have I tried to ¡°help¡± as you have?

My comments come after purchasing both the Stick 230 and the AA-55 Zoom BT because of advertised ¡°working¡± Bluetooth. BT was no gift, as you stated, because an advertised feature was the motivation for my purchase. It¡¯s irrelevant as to the comparable price of a similar unit without BT. I simply would not have purchased the non-BT device!

How do you know what I know ¡ª- or don¡¯t ¡ª- about conditions in Ukraine?

Based upon the work that BOTH Doug and I have reported to Alex here and directly via email, it¡¯s become clear that RE does not have the internal expertise to handle BLE technology in these devices. Their fixes have, at times, made performance worse. And they have not responded honestly and forthrightly about the problems we¡¯ve identified. There is no published timeline in how they¡¯re pursuing a clear fix to the BT problem all while they¡¯re releasing new, higher priced models featuring BT. No company deserves a ¡°participation trophy¡± for being the first to introduce a feature when the implementation is buggy, does not work as advertised, and then releases new products with the same erroneous advertised features (Stick 230 Pro). How does this deserve praise?

Yuri, you can be an apologist for Rig Expert if you wish. Perhaps you don¡¯t have one of the Bluetooth devices. If not, then the disappointment of those buyers may not be important to you. Do you have the same level of compassion or consideration for them?

Companies tend to respond when their financial interests get threatened. That¡¯s a competitive marketplace. It¡¯s not personal. If Alex is ill, I certainly am sorry for him personally. But he has stopped communicating with Doug and me after we collectively demonstrated that BT on the AA-55 Zoom BT is unreliable. Should Doug and I take that personally?

You¡¯d do better to actually read through the relevant threads on this group...who actually own multiple RE BT units...rather than devalue the posts of others without careful study.

Respectfully,

Frank

AA650 ZOOM no Com Port nor Bluetooth connect

I have the AA230 unit and when I connected it to USB the PC created
a Com Port in the Ports tree and created a USB Serial Converter in the
USB Controllers tree which is the correct operation.
The AA230 works with both the AntScope 1 and 2 programs just fine.
I received a AA650 ZOOM unit just a few days ago but have two problems with it.
When plugging in the USB The PC does not create a Com Port nor anything in
the USB Controllers tree instead it creates two devices in the
Human Interface Devices tree.? They are listed as a HID-Compliant Device and a
USB Input Device which is totally incorrect.
The AntScope2 program does find the AA650 ZOOM but in the Settings
no matter if Auto or Manual is selected it still sees the unit even if I select
Manual and have any Com Port selected which is incorrect operation.
The second problem is that it will not pair up correctly (BT).? I have a device
called Blutstack which is an interface for D-Star, YSF and DMR radio
and the PC discovers and pairs up correctly and the PC creates a
Com Port for use with the BlueDV program.
The AA650 ZOOM when the PC discovers it has a yellow triangle
beside it meaning a problem with the device.
The PC does create two devices under the Other Device tree as a
Bluetooth Peripheral Device with a yellow triangle meaning a problem
and indicates no driver found.
After the PC discovers the AA650 ZOOM what should happen is a dialog
box appears with selections and the one I selected with the Bluestack
was to enter a pairing code which works just fine but the PC does not
offer the dialog box in order to pair with the ZOOM unit.
If it can not pair then nothing will work on the Bluetooth side.
I watched this video,
Which showed how to connect a Bluetooth ZOOM unit to the PC but
the steps after the PC discovers it do not work on my PC.
I have another Bluetooth unit for GPS and it correctly was discovered
and paired up just fine and the PC created a Com Port.
I do believe that my Bluetooth on the PC side is working correctly as
demonstrated with the Bluestack and GPS units.

This is NUTS!? Bruce? N7XGR

Answer for both questions are no .
Firmware is stock one.
You did not say which version of AntScope 2 you are using.?

Have you tried the latest version posted on the RigExpert site?

Did you try deleting the AntScope2.ini file as I suggested?? Uninstalling the program and reinstalling does not delete this file.? I have had several bugs in AntScope2 corrupt this file and I had to delete it to get things working again.

So far i have used antscope2 in my nanovna-h since its support nanovna. Suddenly antscope2 failed to work with nanovna.
It recognized and connected to nanovna under settings menu. Run ''single' and "continuous" are not? highlighted.
Previously it was working nicely in my win8 laptop. Both of nanovna-h's returned same issues in antscope.

Note - they are working in nanovnasaver
A few questions:

1.? Have you updated the firmware in your NanoVNA recently? Hugen or edy555 updates are OK but he DisLord firmware has changed the way frequency sweeps are done from the PC.

2. What version of AntScope2 are you using?? Have you updated since the NanoVNA was last working with AntScope2.

-----------------------------

One thing I would try is to delete the AntScope2.ini file in Windows.? That will reset all your AntScope2 settings to the default values when you first installed it.? ?This file is in the Appdata directory in Windows.? You will have to search for it.
