1) you do not need an arduino to use your AA30 Zero. You can connect it to a PC using an FTDI232 USB interface.

2) I wrote a programm that you can use on a PC with your AA30 Zero. it's quite good and the cost is like the AA30 : zero :) ! let me know if you are interested.
