Re: RPI and Direwolf APRS using SDR as receiver
Don't worry about the input level too high messages in this case. It's only a potential problem when using the analog input of a sound card.? If the analog audio input is too large, it can exceed the range of the A/D converter, resulting in clipping, distortion of the signal, and less reliable demodulation.? The warning level is overly cautious.? The input level can go much higher before it reaches the A/D limit. In this case, where 16 bit digital audio is going from one application to another, there is no chance of overflowing the signal range. "What is Dire Wolf?" some might be wondering.? It's a software TNC that does not require any special hardware.? The computer soundcard is connected to?the speaker and microphone?connectors on?your?radio.? It can be used stand-alone to receive APRS
messages, as a digital repeater (¡°digipeater¡±), Internet Gateway (IGate), and APRStt gateway.? It can also be used as a virtual TNC for
other applications such as APRSIS32, UI-View32, Xastir, APRS-TW, YAAC, SARTrack,
and many others. |

Re: Unable to get Pi and Pi TNC to work with my Radio
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Ryan,According to K4GBB excellent TNC-pi doc file, (), you certainly also changed boot parameters removing all reference to ttyAMA0 and console=tty1.

Re: New file uploaded to Raspberry_Pi_4-Ham_RADIO
I corrected it
What should sampling rate for packet be and what should voice be. Voice is set now 22.5 and packet 44.1 Im releasing a new version this weekend to use many more functions like a button to stop and start transmitter. Be sure to delete the config file it generates before updating |

Using RPi to remote control a Baofeng UV5R or similar portable radio via Android
I'd like to use the RPi to remote control a Baofen UV5R or similar radio via an Android app. ?I'm only looking to receive and transmit, not change frequency or in any other way control the radio. I've searched the internet but have not been able to find anything on this subject. Has anyone done this or can point me in the right direction? I have some experience with RPi. ?I'm using one RPi for running a PBX and Fax in my home and another as a NAS for my media. |

RPI and Direwolf APRS using SDR as receiver
Good day, I realize that a SDR radio is all digital in nature and that probably no such thing as a analog audio level contra exists. ? I am "piping" the output of a SDR to the Direwolf APRS decoder and many of the decodes in Direwolf indicate the audio level into Direwolf is too high. ?With an analog radio shipping audio into a sound dongle one would just turn down the audio of the analog radio. The command line used to start both processes in the Pi is:
rtl_fm -M fm -f 144.39M -s 24000 -g 50 -l 0 -p 3 - |
direwolf -n 1 -r 24000 -b 16 - Anyone have any ideas for a command character either in rtl_fm or Direwolf that would manage the audio level? Bob K6MBY Sequim, WA |

Re: New file uploaded to Raspberry_Pi_4-Ham_RADIO
Very interesting, well done!
I took a look at the code but I've not yet been able to run it. Please check the sampling rate set in the code for the packet radio audio stream. It sounds to me to be there a disalignment between the generated audio file (22.5kHz) and the nbfm transmission (44.1kHz). 73s de Ale, fotografAle, IK1PLD |

Re: New file uploaded to Raspberry_Pi_4-Ham_RADIO
Very nice. Let me get a list of settings that work best for you to default into my script. Why did you change deviation to 4 from 5
Please check out the latest Pifox.zip Description : V1.06. Unzip files then chmod +x all files then run "sudo ./pifox.sh" easy to navigate menus set the rest of the script. Lots of new features including a mode to run a pre-configured fox hunt transmitter requiring no additional user input when your pi is powered on. Excellent for deploying a fox box in the field. Re: Unable to get Pi and Pi TNC to work with my Radio
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Ryan,First of all check that you correctly inserted TNC-Pi jumpers J3 and J4 correctly and in the right way, that is parallel to GPIO 2X13 pins , not orthogonal i.e. jumpers must not join JP3 to JP4. If you still do not copy any AX.25 traffic on your screen with listen -a then check the following. First, you must configure TNC-Pi port in serial mode. In order to do that you must not load any AX.25 driver nor attach any driver to serial ports (no kissattach command). Did you edit /etc/default/ifplugd and replaced HOTPLUG_INTERFACES = "all" by "eth0" ? This should be done. Did you edit /etc/inittab and add a # sign in order to disable line starting with T0:23 Here is how it should look : #T0:23:respawn:/sbin/getty -L ttyAMA0 115200 vt100? Check TNC-Pi configuration using pitnc_getparams 0 0 or 1 0 depending on your revision board. Line 07 should display I2c address (0=async) 00 If parameter is not 0, set it to 0 for serial mode using command pitnc_setparams 0 0 7 0 or 1 0 7 0 (again depending on your TNC-Pi board). Check that configuration is ok using pitnc_getparams again. If you enter these command when a driver is already attached to serial port ttyAMA0 you get an error message saying : error while loading shared libraries : libax25.so.0: cannot open ...... In that case disable scripts that loaded AX.25 at boot time and reboot your Raspberry to configure it. ? I hope this could help you. 73 de Bernard, f6bvp Le 28/09/2014 22:53,

Re: New to raspberry pi
David, ? That's a pretty wide open question you ask.?? I'm using several Raspberry PIs in an attempt to build an over-the-radio wide-range VHF packet radio network.? In my application I put Raspian Wheezy Debian OS onto the PI.? I actually wrote a primer for people trying to start from scratch for my use of the PI and you might want to read what I say to start out, even if you are going in an entirely different direction.? It will give you some idea how to start. ? See this document I'd say stop at the point where I talk about "Running the TARPN install scripts" because from then on it is pretty much just about making a packet node out of the PI.? Before that is somewhat generic.? Some of the choices I make are not necessarily what you'll want and you can keep those things in mind or make your own choices. Since the PI runs off a memory card you can have multiple boot images and mess around with it knowing that nothing you do is irrevocable.? Feel free to ask any questions or to correct my grammar etc! .? I've only been using the PI since January so I'm somewhat new to this as well.? ?? Tadd On Oct 01, 2014, at 12:12 PM, "davidpechon@... Banana Pi and DSD
Don Woodward
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have a Banana Pi with Raspberryian OS ¨C I compiled DSD ¨C inputting discriminator output into a iMIC connected to the PI and outputting using the PI¡¯s audio output.? The audio is very choppy ¨C only getting a syllable here and there but it is decoding DSTAR, NXDN and DMR audio.? I think the PI is just not powerful enough ¨C has anyone interfaced a external DV3000 with ambeserver to offload the decoding? ?
? Thanks in advance, ? Don Woodward KD4APP ? ? ? |
