Raspberry Pi as Remote TCP Server for RTL2832U SDR
ks4ju
It seems that we all have the urge to mash together a RTL2832U DVBT stick and a Raspberry Pi to come up with a small inexpensive SDR receiver. After experimenting with this for several months, I can tell you due to the limited processing power of the Pi, it is not easy. However, you can use the Pi and the RTL2832U stick to create a TCP based SDR radio that can be used by SDR Sharp on a remote computer. Some of you may find this information useful. |
Good Pi wheezy experience +question gnu radio
Element 14 mk2 board
Cut power lead for Belkin travel (4 way) hub and spliced in power cable to Pi mini USB inlet. (Used cable from now redundant 1 Amp supply that came with Pi), supply wires to mini USB plug are minute gauge, volts drop over 48 inch would have been significant. Now 5.03V at tp1 and 2.6Amp from Belkin PSU available with 6 USB ports (4 free with wireless keyboard mouse and wifi). Acer V173 monitor with Ebay HDMI > DVI cable works out of box no configs to adjust! HDMI to JVC 32 inch disappointing logon prompt off screen to left so not visible. Pluscom MUWB-11n WIFI DONGLE worked out of box to BT home hub no sett up required. Riitek RT-MWK06 mini wireless 2.4GHz keyboard/touch pad (NOT BLUETOOTH alleged problematic) no sett-up required, Layout UK all keys mapped ok. Pi mounted on back of monitor using VESA attachment point, with IEE Y cable only 1 power cable. Coffee table footprint smaller than laptop and can drive from armchair! ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Has anyone installed GNU Radio on PI ? Script used? dependencies? performance? comments please. John Knott 2E0KNJ |

Idea for a self-contained transceiver
Here is an idea for a self-contained low cost transceiver.
Ingredients: 1. Raspberry Pi $35 2. 3.5in LCD display with composite input $15 (available for car back-up cameras) 3. Peaberry SDR from AE9RB $130 (shipping included) 4. Wireless KB/mouse $15 (available from Fry's/Walmart locally) 5. 12V to micro-USB cable to power RPi $5 . There are also 12V/5V power supplies available. So far $200 + shipping. No USB sound card is necessary, because Peaberry has ADC for RX I/Q that is routed to USB and handles the rest (TX I/Q, mic) onboard. KM5H case for the Peaberry ($25) and Adafruit case for the Raspberry ($15) bring that to $240 plus some shipping. It would be nice to have a case that holds everything together: display, Peaberry and Raspberry. The missing piece (other than the single case) is the SDR software to demodulate the RX I/Q, to display the waterfall, to control the frequency/PTT, and to generate/demodulate digital modes. It has to work on a low-res display. Connecting an HDMI display defeats the low cost and the self-contained goals, but may be an option. 73, Mike |

The first link was dead because the web address inluded the full stop at the end of the sentence. If you delete the extra dot at the end of the url when you get the drop box error, then it works.

PI TNC - progress report.
开云体育Hi,
?
For
those?new to the group, I have been working on a TNC
for use with the pI that is the same size as the pi and plugs into the expansion
header. The prototype was a TNC-X, with a 26 way header superglued to board.
There is a photo of it on the home page of this group.
?
I now
have two TNC's running, and can connect between them. See photo at .
This show the prototype - the production boards will have a DB9 instead of the
Mini-DIN radio connector. A batch of production boards has been ordered, and
should be here in 2-3 weeks.
?
I've
also built a couple of units using the RMF22B 100 mW 434 Mhz tranceiver model.
They both transmit - I now need to get the receive side working. There is a
photo at
?
I
looked at the higher powered (500 mw) RMF12BP, and ordered a couple for
experiments. But?when I looked into the module in more detail I found it
was not compatible?with the RFM22B, and?is less flexible and more
difficult to program. I've since found the RFM23BP, which is a 1 watt unit that
is compatible with the RFM22B, so I've ordered a couple?of them for
testing, and designed a board that will take either the 22B or the 23BP.
Although it is primarily indended for use with the PI, it will also have an
async port, so it can be used as a standalone KISS
TNC/Radio.

Good evening,
I've
been wanting one of these for some time, but the idea of waiting who knows how
long to get one when ordering from the normal sources wasn't my idea of fun.
Last night I decided to bid on several that I saw on eBay; I won one auction
today and am waiting to see how the other one goes. Will enjoy having one (or
more) of these tiny wonders.

There is no wait if you order from either , or newark-element 14. If one doesnt have them, the other will. The rpi's are no longer back ordered. The big guys like jameco, erc. Are now stocking these boards. Ke6anm On Oct 2, 2012, at 5:02 PM, Matthew Pitts <daywalker_blade_2004@...> wrote:
