Re: PiGate RMS

Hello Mark,

I'm just wondering how much data there is on the SD card. Just wondering if "PiShrink" would help with any of this?

That's a thought but maybe too big. One I'm using should be ok but it's not, so I'm gonna keep investigating. Thanks.

Have you looked into GitHub?? As long as it's open source, it's free. Same with SourceForge

Jack,

I appreciate that.? Looks like I might be able to get this all working again using Google Drive.? The direct download links may get an error about not being able to scan the file, but the download should continue.? It's not the optimal setup like before, but it's the best I can do without paying $20 or more a month.

I've tried a number of different download sites, and they all either won't allow large files, or they can't do a direct download link, or they cost too much.? So many are geared toward the young folks sharing videos and music from their phones.? I guess that is the market today.? No more simple old FTP download sites.

Thanks again.

Asa,

On the other hand, here's a link that should work.? You'll get an error about not being able to scan the file, but you should be able to continue on with the download.? This is a ZIP file so you'll have to unzip it to get the image.

Please let me know how this works.

The grid square warning is benign.? If you want to cancel it, edit the file /usr/local/etc/wl2k.conf and at the bottom enter you grid square as indicated:

# Gridsquare locator
gridsquare=EM48lk? <-- your grid square

Allstar Node Progress

I've been building my first Allstar node using an RPi4B, CM-108 fob, and a BF-888 (clone) so I thought I'd post a picture of where I'm at. Since this is my first attempt, I literally built it on a breadboard so I have easy access. Still having trouble getting a single 5V supply to power both the Pi and the HT. When I tried using the 5V 3A convertor shown I kept getting "Low Voltage" warnings from the Pi. Right now I'm dropping the 5.1V converter output using two diodes for the HT and using an "official" Pi 5.1V power module. I looked at using buck converters but I didn't like what i read about some dangerous things with the output voltage if the input happens to drop below spec. My next step is install Hamvoip. Wish me luck...73 - Scott/KK6DZ

Dual hotspot case

Hi all! I just wanted to share some photo's of my latest project. I have installed two Pi 3b's in a single case to run both DMR and Dstar. It's almost finished but, I still have a few things to add to it yet. Everything in the photo's was purchased off of eBay except for the front and rear panels. I had to make those by hand. Anyway, enjoy and let me know if you have some ideas for improvements or anything else. 73' de W2LPC.

It was quite frustrating trying to get the monitor to work until I realized the problem is the adapter.
I also learned that there are HDMI "simulator" plugs that can be plugged into the HDMI adaptor so you can then run the RPI "headless" - much more convenient.?

Re: Monitor setup

I had the same issue when I put Bulleye onto an old RPi 3b+ board that was connected to the 7” display. (Fully updated OS)
I found a solution on the Internet (I think it was ) but what worked for me was to just add the following line to an otherwise untouched config.sys file:

dtparam=i2c_vc_baudrate=50000

Re: PiGate on Raspberry Pi 4

I think I included a short script on the PiGate image /root/get_pi_version.sh.

If it's not there, here it is:

#!/bin/sh

echo
echo `cat /proc/device-tree/model`
echo

Works for all Pi versions.
