Re: RPi-5 & NVMe SSD selection

M.2 is the format. They are all SSD's, but there are NVMe and SATA.? The pineberry board and 99% of the USB to M.2 adapters are NVMe and will not work with SATA.
Pineberry makes 2 boards. A top hat and a bottom hat.? Top hat is for shorter NVMe M.2 SSD's and the bottom hat is for the longer.

The answer to is it backward compatible, then the answer is yes, but be careful of 2280 ¨C 2230 ,2242 ect. The last 2 numbers are the length and most PI¡¯s side if you are trying to use a standard case would want the smaller 2230. Not sure of Pi5. Also becareful when looking at the drives that they are NVMe (if that is what you need) and not M.2 SSD¡¯s which are not interchangeable.

Hope this helps, Bill

Subject: [RaspberryPi-4-HamRadio] RPi-5 & NVMe SSD selection

?

I'm trying to find a lower cost NVMe SSD to use on my yet to be received Raspberry Pi-5.

QUESTION:? Will gen 3 drives support the RPi guaranteed Pi-5 gen 2 support?? e.g.; Is gen 3 backward compatible to gen 2?

Also, any recommended NVMeM.2 drives for Rpi-5?? I hope to use the Pineberry Pi circuit board for an interface.
