I received this e-mail update on my RPi5 order today:

Actual Raspberry Pi 5s are incoming to us, so we expect to start
shipping Batch 1 early next week! Hang in there.

Pre-order.

We have confirmation of incoming Raspberry Pi 5 stock. We expect to
start shipping orders from Batch 1 early next week (30 Oct onwards).

You have a guaranteed slot in our pre-order queue and we’ll start with
the earliest orders and work our way through as stock arrives. As
always, the Pre-order Update page will have the latest info on progress
through the batches. All resellers are in the same boat and will have a
similar process for handling their backlog so please be patient, it
won’t be long now (though it may feel like it)!
