Volts get you there, but if you have the volts and don't have the amps you'll still get the lightening bolt problem. There is a specific requirement of amps at a given voltage for the PI 4. As already mentioned the length of cable and the gauge of the wire in the cable will affect the delivery of volts and amps. My experience with this is from running a PI from a 12v source using a fixed 12v to 5,x volt USB converter. After playing with length and gauge of cable (charging cable) it worked, but I needed something not quite so sensitive as I needed the potential of a longer cable depending on the given deployment, so I went with a DC-DC converter having both adjustable?voltage and amps. This resolved my issues for my application. I use it for off grid/emergency power for amateurs radio operations.?
