Your suggested modification is in violation of the LICENSE for HamPi. The LICENSE specifically excludes the change you suggest. If you or others do not agree with running BOINC, then simply delete your copy of HamPi. I am not telling you what you can and cannot do with your own hardware. However, running HamPi with this modification is in violation with the LICENSE terms.

I am not going to debate whether you agree or disagree with the LICENSE terms. They are what they are. If you don't agree with the LICENSE terms, then the answer is simple -- don't use HamPi.
