Re: CW speeds during event

Hi Larry,

The sending speeds have definitely *not* been on the super fast side,
for several reasons...

Many of the participants are SKCC members using mechanical keys. They
are used to matching the sending speed of the stations that call them or
whose CQ's they answer.

Also, most participants are pretty careful about sending their code
groups because they will not get TX points if the receiving station does
not copy them correctly. Many will even repeat their code group without
being asked to do so, just to make sure it is copied.

In any case, if you can't copy a code group from someone don't hesitate
to send "RG?" to ask for a repeat. Typically the sending station will
slow down even more to send the repeat.

Regarding your score-- you only need to submit the code groups you have
copied from other stations. No QSO details are required, including call
sign, band, etc. Also, we don't need the list of groups that you
transmitted; only groups you have copied from others.

Hello.? I just learned about this group and this weekend's event today.
It sounds like fun.? I have a couple of questions:

1)? How fast is the cw in these events?? Like contest speeds or slower?
A friend of mine sends 10 wpm with a straight key? Could he enjoy this
event, maybe by asking for QRS, or would it just leave him dizzy?? If he
calls CQ at 10 wpm, is he likely to get responses?

2)? When you send in your score, do you just send in the "radiograms"
you copied and nothing else, or do you include call signs of the senders
and bands and times?

Thanks and 73!? ?Larry, kf6ncx
