[Army-Radios] Fw: STOLEN radio PLEASE READ 2
So very Sorry to hear this, Stuart. Do you remember the serial number of the radio and the VIU? I know they are easily removable, but may help more if known by everybody who moves in these circles. 73, Warren

Fw: STOLEN radio PLEASE READ
Ladies and Gents Please diseminate Stuart G0TBI This happened at an event at South Cerney on the weekend ----- Forwarded message ----- From: Stuart Mckinnon <stuartjmckinnon@...> To: VMARS groups.io <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, 5 August 2024 at 19:18:18 BST Subject: STOLEN radio PLEASE READ For those of you not on the various FB and WA groups that my Military vehicle Colleagues helped me with on Sunday On Saturday Night/Sunday Morning, My Lightweight or Airportable Land Rover was attacked and my Racal 2000 'V' was ripped out, by thieves, they removed the control cable and Coax Connector from the front of the VIU, but could not fathom how to disconnect the DC 2 Pin Larger Racal Power plug, so they yanked it away with the DC plug still in situ, leaving pos and Neg/Shield remnants of the cable behind, it was a good job I always switch off the Dist box. This must have been someone who had visited the VMARS compliment, and seen me talking or demoing the radio, who clearly took a shine to it, relieving me of it in the early hours The Theft has been logged with Glos Police and I am awaiting a Crime Number from SOC, Please keep your eyes peeled for a E Bay or Market Place of any other area that Mil radio is offered There is a Substantial reward offered for information received leading to offenders and or return of Eqpt This photograph is dated Jun 2023 and luckily that was in my gallery on my Phone If you can help contact me privately. Tank you Stuart G0TBI 07860 496516 Please feel free to diseminate this msg far and wide and maybe it will come to light!

Wanted Details / Circuit for IF convertor 4100020 2
Which is a wideband IF convertor from 40.455 MHz to 21.4 MHz and appears to be useful for using a panadapter with any of the 40.455MHz first IF receivers such as the RA6790/GM and the RA1792. It does physically fit in the space in those where the ISB card or 100 kHz IF converter fits. If anyone has any details, such as supply voltage(s) needed I'd be grateful, and I guess tracing out the schematic will keep me quiet for at least a week :^) 73 - Dan ac6ao - g3ncr

RT422B
Hi everyone, I am restoring an RT422B, it is complete with PSU, cables etc. Very little information on the WWW. I actually used this rig to talk to Dave Dave Larsen, years ago. It has been mothballed for 20 years but I want to get it up and running again. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you, Ludwig ZS5CN.

Racal Cougar battery chemistry? 10
Hi all I'm new to the Racal Cougar kit and I picked up a 144mhz unit at a rally yesterday. My question is what is the chemistry of the main battery on the SMT unit for charging purposes ? I have a NIMH for the radio itself but I read there are also Nicad cell packs so I just want to charge it correctly, thanks ??

TRA931 missing IF transformer 3
I have a Syncal missing T4 in the Rx 1.4 MHz IF chain. I have a suitable core and need a better guess than mine as to the turns ratio needed, if there's anyone technically more qualified than I, which shouldn't be hard, who would be prepared to offer an estimate, I'd be very happy. It's T4 feeding the base of TR13 from the collector of TR12 on the MA930 board. My guess was either 4:2 or 6:2 turns. 73 - Dan ac6ao / g3ncr

Syncal 30 TRA-931 frequency dial lights? 11
Hi: if I let my eyes adjust to a pitch black room, I can see the "beta" lights glow just enough to read the frequency dials. However in a recent post, another unit's back light appears very bright in room light. Did some of the radios use lamps or LEDs for lighting ? or the beta emitter lights are way brighter when new? my unit's serial number is 004366 The serial number indicate that this is a really old unit ? I think mine came from Iraq P

TRA-931X Update 4
Update here on the Hamvention TRA-931X. I am a happy camper at the moment. This rig does well on TX. I have used it on 75m phone with a external antenna with good results. I have made several CW contacts with it also using an external antenna. Can you believe SP3CW from Delaware on 15M after dark! The receive audio seems to be the only source of trouble. I have made a breakout box and have a amplified speaker attached. There are static noises similar to lightning crashes most of the time that are constant even when varying the volume control on the rig. I have not tried this on my other TRA-931 yet but last used with that rig there was no audio trouble. The audio output of the 931X seems to be very low by itself. Using a H-250/U handset I have the volume all the way up and I barely have noise or hear voices. Also the receive audio is still there when transmitting SSB or CW, it does not mute when transmitting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV7gaj6XYwo Any ideas. Dave KC3AM

TRA-931X 6
Hello everyone, I found a TRA-931X at Hamvention last week, s/n 14643. No screws to hold it in the case and no battery pack. Opening it up it looks great inside at first glance with no signs of trouble. I see that it has a circuit board above the T/R relay which my 931 does not. Also on the front it has two more BNC connectors. I do not have the manual for the 931X version yet to let me know what the differences are. Can anyone give me an idea of what I have here? Cosmetically it is a bit rough and dirty looking with some damage. Upon power up I have 18 watts on 21.260 in the tune position. I have not tried any other band. The frequency backlights all work with a Green color. The audio noise is there but a bit low and there are louder crackle noises that do not change with changing the volume control. When I input a signal from a service monitor on 21.260 AM, CW or SSB I do not hear anything. Any thoughts ??? Thanks much, Dave KC3AM
