Syncal 30 , fails to return to RX

Syncal 30 , fails to? return to RX

Started as? intermittent fault and is now? permanent , a plus point? , I suppose?

Basically , TX and? Rx? are ok,? all? modes ,? the? problem is ,? once? TX has been? engaged ,??
on releasing the? PTT , the? set? returns to? RX , meter? shows the? battery? voltage? and there? is?
slight? ?noise from the? head set??

But , the? RX is? actually? NOT working ,?

Rx can be? recovered , by? powering? the? radio? OFF and? back ON ,? ?
where? there? is? a? couple? of? beeps? from the? synth? lock ind , then? it works?
normally ,?

Not taken the? covers of? yet,? looking? to see? if this? fault is? a ''known''? ?condition
and / or? any? pointers as? to? possible? cause ...?

Initially? double? clicking the? ptt could? remove the? fault ,??

Rx audio? , during tx is? ?switched ??

Tnx - Graham?

Racal Syncal 30's are notourious for sticking relays, try to get your relay cleaned with switch cleaner

Sticking, or the? driver? transistor , leaking ? ,?

Powering the? set off? and? back on clears the? fault ,? may be? , held in ? , just hope the? fault? remains till? its identified ..?
guess ,? identifying ,? what is? switching the? RX audio? would be a good? place to? start ..

Had some? fun and game's? with? one of the? ?counter? re-set line , ztx? clamp? transistors ,? not? pulling to ''zero ish'' , staying up slightly .. causing? a pulsed? ?400? hz? fm? some time? back and the? last? /2? ?in the? pll ref line failed , doubling the? ref? frequency? ..novel?

It sounds like the classic problem that I have fixed on many occasions, namely failing transistors.

I have found many of the transistors used to perform logic functions and switching the relays seem to fail with strange faults. Clearly they had a bad batch!

Relay part number ?

Ive? qty 3? relays? in the? set, one? on the? relay board? and two? on the? main? analog tx/rx signal? board
the only? identification? on the? realys? is??

National? RS? 12V? ?and 611? ....Im seeing data? sheets for? RS-12V??
?Electromechanical Relay, SPDT, Latched, 28VDC (Coil),

Assume the? 611? ?is a? batch number ,? looks? to? of been? added to the relay?
at 90 deg? to the? main label?

Latched relay ,? possible cause of it holding in , due to? age? I wonder ?

Are these the? common fault items ??

Tnx - Graham?

Usual crazy faults , this was the only open frame relay? , contact's Rx 12v? switched supply,? 12v on set power on?
zero during tx,? returning to? 2 v? on Rx ....... power set off , on , back to 12v on Rx ,?

Cleaned contacts , normal service restored .... For now?
