I'm after some information about a battery for the PRM4720/4515.
?
I have a charged battery (which soon won't be!) that I'm hoping to re-cell with three Lithium 18650 batteries and associated BMS. The battery that I have appears to be larger than typical batteries for this series of radios, in that its case is approximately 75mm high, hence why I think I can fit the 18650's in it.
?
So, two questions:
1) Can anybody tell me the correct part number for this larger battery pack?
2) Does anybody know of a source of this battery type (dead or alive)?
?
Unfortunately, the pack is devoid of any markings apart from a Red Racal label with a stick-on serial number label.

I think the battery you’re looking for is only meant for the PRM4535 and PRM4740A but will probably fit others like the PRM4515. The battery is from your description 10.8v and 4400mAh. NATO number 6140-99-729-8387
? Failing that, a battery intended for the Panther BCC69. The battery is the MA4191C or NATO number 6140-99-665-8474.
? Perhaps post an image of the battery and some dimensions?

I've got one of the Axess batteries, Robin. That version is too short to take the 18650-based battery pack. However, it is exactly the same "style" as the larger battery I have? - the two are interchangeable on the radio.
?
Spence - the dimensions of the larger battery are the same as the 4516 battery in the X? and Z axis (approx 73 and 30mm respectively), but the Y axis for the larger battery is approx 82mm compared to 67mm for the smaller. The 75mm I mentioned in my first post is the Y axis dimension excluding the plastic case top that mounts the metal battery contacts.
?
A bit of googling of the battery types you mention fails to throw up an actual spec for the batteries (I'd settle for just the size!), but does show two suppliers with stock that's probably suitable for re-celling. Unfortunately, it's not possible to judge from the pictures shown whether those batteries have the larger Y axis. However, those batteries are clearly "thicker", but the supplier states that they still fit onto these radios. If they are big enough to take the Lithium pack, then they would be a functional solution but not very pretty! I'll try contacting them to ask about tht critical dimension.
Reading your last post regarding the dimensions, I’m thinking you are talking about the large capacity cougar battery. I think It is higher(longer) than the standard Axes offered batteries, as it is a higher amperage battery. So 85mm would sound correct as against the normal 75mm high cougar battery. I’ll try and measure my batteries and confirm.

Hi Keith, I designed my own battery case and 3D printed it but it wasn’t anywhere near tough enough for safe storage of the batteries. I’m sure you could fashion something out of plastic and keep the top.

I'm a very long way from being knowledgeable about any of these radios, but, from looking at the pictures of the 6894 on Ebay and elsewhere (link below), I'd say that the batteries are not compatible - the 6894 appears to have a totally different method of attachment to the radio.

Are these batteries interchangeable with those for the PRC6894?
I have several of these nice radios but the battery situation is a bit grim.

Ebay is so weird.? I can see that listing at the link you gave but if I try to search for PRC6894 there are no hits.? If I then try to look at the seller's listings, that one does not show up.? Plenty of other items, just not that radio.? If I go to the ebay category and look there, also no hits.? It's as if that particular item is blocked from search at my location.? However, the seller is in the USA and claims to ship to the USA (among a huge list of countries).

I actually have three, just need good batteries and wanted to take a quick look and see if the seller had just battery cases.? Yes I understand the technical issues with low power etc.
Oddly, when I did the initial Google search, in addition to the Ebay result, the following link turned up, it was obviously the same as the Ebay sale, with the same pictures:
When I attempted to go to the same link a few minutes later, it was giving the same 404 result it gives now. I didn't give it much thought as I wasn't intending to buy anything, just looking for a clue about the batteries.
A bit more light Googling suggests that the address given for that business doesn't exist, there doesn't appear to be a Columbia Road in Dover USA. There is a Columbia Ave, but the premises numbering goes nowhere near 4474.
