Re: Racal manpack models list

There is my list of Racal equipment here.?

I do need to update it as I have found a number of new items and would welcome any additions others have.

The PRM470A and B was also used by the Greek military and may have been made under licence in Greece.

There was also a Chinese copy.

Have I missed something but is there a new and/or revised RACAL list of models etc

The one I have seen on the internet does not include many items, some of which I have, or had!

I have often hought it would be good to be able to update a list when new items surface.

Re: Racal manpack models list

There is also a 4720B2. I had a few of them that were made under licence in the Phillipines. They have an inbuilt speaker and microphone which is added by replacing the front panel.

New group formed for tactical computer equipment

Hi, All,

A new international group has been formed to cater for owners and users of tactical computer equipment and ancillaries, of the types which sometimes become available as government surplus.

You can find the group at [email protected]

Particular intentions of the group are:

* to advertise tactical computer equipment for sale, or items wanted (Subject line prefixed with "FS: ", "Wanted: ", or whatever, please)

* to provide a source of information on this type of equipment, which is generally difficult as in many cases the original manufacturer will have gone out of business or been taken over

* to exchange information on the possibility of upgrading items, as many have very dated operating systems (often first-generation Pentium or earlier) and limited RAM. If you have already successfully upgraded a green computer, please let us know!

If you have worked professionally on such equipment, either in service or for any of the manufacturers, we would also welcome you on board!

We look forward to you joining us at [email protected]

Hi,

I can't help with the manuals or dog bone cable, but the dog bone connectivity will be 1:1.

Good luck,

Re: Racal Cougar Battery Pinouts

May I suggest that the poster who is looking at designing a file to print the battery case consider making it to fit 18650 LiIon as three of them work perfectly with the PRM4515L (I know because I have them). Also, Dave, PA5DOF, who designed the programmer for the 4515s has design a case (top, body, bottom) and is prepard to share the file.

Manual ForRacal BCC-589B-VIU 100W Amp for VRQ-319 BCC39B Radio

All,
I just acquired the 100W amplifier listed in the subject line.? Is there anyone out there that may have the user and tech manuals for the amplifier and have a source for the dog bone that connects the amp to the radio?? I'm assuming (hoping) it's? straight through 1:1 7 pin connection.

Hello Alex,

I have no information at all on the MA4258 secure microphone. I can see that the programmer for use with it is the MA4255/MA4254. I understand that the MA4255 is the Master Key Fill and the MA4254 is the Slave Key Fill. The MA4255 can be used to fill the MA4258 directly, or fill via the slave unit, MA4254.I can't say that I have ever seen nor used any of these units.

I hope that this helps!

Peter

Dear Peter, dear Group,

?

I wish you all a happy new year?!!

?

Has anyone information about RACAL COMSEC Secure microphone MA4258C?? I have some units but they seems to be programmed with different crypto keys. I have been told that Cougar programmer like MA-4073 can program them. But on the internet I see that programming is done via MA4255 or ma4254 fillgun.

Can anyone help me to make them working again??

?

Any information about programming are welcome.

?

Best regards

Alex ON4FB

Hi,

I've responded directly to Spence. He has made a very kind offer of making STL files for the dry cell holder available once he's had a chance to look at it.

I have received a few emails from others interested in any other items I may have. I will need to make lists as to what I have that I no longer wish to keep. I'll post this to the group once I've had a good sort out!

73,

Peter

?Hello All,

Sorry to be late to the party on this one, but I have some bits that might be of interest. I worked for Racal/Thales for about 33 years in total and was present at a number of clear-outs at site closures during that time.

I have from the 2017 Basingstoke shut-down a pair of MA4516W NiCd batteries still in their clear plastic wraps, unopened. I've used pins poked through the plastic to check voltage and see if they will take a charge and both seem okay. Also there is a MA4516B dry cell holder to take 8 x AA cells.

From an earlier clear out at Reading in 2007 I have a MA4025G, the primary lithium, 15V version of the MA4025.Its never been used but the original plastic bag has split. The battery measures about 14.87V across the terminals.

All up for grabs - I don't want anything for them just as long as they go to a good home where they will be used to keep Racal gear in use.

The lithium battery will certainly need to be collected in person as the Royal Mail won't take it!

I'm located in Frimley, Surrey.

Happy New Year,

Hi Peter, I¡¯m hoping your email was aimed in my direction as that¡¯s a massive yes on my part and more than willing to collect at you¡¯re convenience. Since my original email I had took the plunge and bought some new batteries from Axess however they were pricey once VAT and postage had been applied and only solved my issue for two radios. So please DM me your address for collection and perhaps I can pick your knowledge on a few other things too. The battery that interest me more than anything is MA4516B which takes dry cells. I have never seen one in the flesh so to speak and would be very curious about the layout if I want to 3D print my own battery cases in the future.?
The group can benefit from the STL files once I¡¯ve worked out the dimensions.

73 and thanks for the offer.

Wishing the group a very Happy new year.
