This christmas im being good to myself! After messing with wire antennas and having mixed results..im in a spot where height is a problem i have a mast but the profile is still low. Only 24 feet and thats the top of the mast.. I have had different suggestions for antennas but im thinking of a vertical trap antenns for 40 and 80 meters as I can only run just one coax line and have it done..im asking the group for thier recommendation of a simple vertical trap antennsa with the radials in a fairly compact configuration so i dont frighten the nice little old lady who lives next door!
thank you for your suggestions in advance.
happy holidays again

There's not a lot of point in you going to the site anyway, since these are widely available from suppliers in the US, but the link should have been:

I would second the recommendation - I tend to use the larger 2-pole SB 50A
and SBE 120A style in my truck since the RT322 on its own is a 50 amp load.
The UK supplier Torberry Connectors Ltd have always proved efficient and
reliable for me.

Larkspur accessory items for sale

I have?a 10-page file listing approximately 250 Larkspur items I currently have for sale, which can be found at:
?
(I apologise in advance that during the upload process these images have become inverted, if I have time later I will turn them around and re-save them).
?
Due to a house clearance, I am looking initially for a sensible offer for the whole of this collection. I have described the condition of each item as accurately as I can, and all items are individually bagged and numbered as on the lists. There are multiple numbers of many items, making them ideal for a club or dealer purchase. If not unsold after next weekend, they will have to go into long-term, relatively-inaccessible, storage. In "bulk", this whole collection would fill the boot space of a medium-sized car.

Refurbishing rechareable battery

Hi all,

I have two radios using the clansman battery, a BCC39B and a RT320.? I have once gone the route to replace all 20 ni-cads in the aluminum battery case.....lots of work, cleaning the case, then soldering and installing the 20 new Ni-Cad batteries.?? The result was good, the pack still works.

Recently, having a dead aluminum battery in my junk pile, I decided to bring it back to life as well.? This time I chose a different route.? I Purchased two new SLA (gelcell) 12 V 5 A/H batteries for less than 20$ each.?? The size of the two batteries fit perfectly in the empty aluminum case, a tight fit which prevents any movements? There is even room on top for a fuse holder.? Pictures of the result can be seen in the photo section under album VE7OI.

The advantages..in my opinion,
  • easy to do, less work
  • easy to recharge, simple lead acid charger
  • Can be recharged after every use, Gel Cell like to be full
  • No memory effect
  • Low cost
Drawbacks

  • Still makes for a relatively heavy battery
  • Cannot be recharged with the clansman charger
This has worked for me, might give others some ideas

Have fun,
JC

I am interested in exchanging information about this set and e.g. compare
its
performance with other manpacks such as Redifon GR-345B, the Russian
Angara-1 (which is as miniaturized as the PRM-4051), SEG-15 and more
sophisticated sets like PRC-515, PRC-104, the Russian R-143 etc. etc.
All sets mentioned before are part of my SSB-manpack collection.

Re: BC-1031 supply plug

Hi Ben - for all Military Plugs and sockets I have always been able to source them from Servo and Electronic Sales at Lydd in Kent....ask for Rob Egan (their MD) or talk with Vikki Gilbert in Sales.
Her email address is: v.gilbert@...
They prefer it if you could email either a photo of the mating half?or a Part Number of the connector that you are looking for.
In 25 years of trading with them, they have never yet failed to have the connector that I have wanted, in stock.
Please remember to ask for their new Surplus Stock - these are far cheaper connectors than their ISO-released ones, but are just as good for amateur use.
Best regards,
Julian Barnard.
