PRM-4720 Question
ltkolben75
Hi group,
Can anybody give me some informations about the RACAL radio PRM-4720? In the file, picture and message section i can only find informations about the 25kHz to 12,5kHz mod, but nothing about a manual or other details... If any one can help me please feel free to mail or give a tip for an external link, google and other searchengines does not find really much for this radio... Thanks and best regards, Thorsten |

I recently acquired a Syncal 30 / TRA931 and am in the process of restoring the radio cosmetically. As a newby, I am in seach of the following: 1. 2 frequency selection knobs 2. 3 pieces of 6-pin male audio plugs 3. MA934 battery case 4. Original backpack for the radio 5. Green paint for the radio Appreciate if anyone can point me to the source or have one or more to offer at reasonable price. Please contact me directly via email. Many thanks and best regards James Puah 9V1JP |

Stuart, All zeros is the reset state of the cpu. It is hard to guess exactly what is wrong but I would guess a tantalum somewhere is pulling down one of the supply rails. Start by checking all the supply voltages. I'd give you even money one of them is right down. -15V seems to be the current favourite. Of course if you have left the old Nicad battery on the CPU board all bets are off. It should have been swapped for the equivalent NiMH by now :^(. If the board is displaying a green or blue tinge round any bits of copper that is it. If you want more detailed tips I will need to know what Mark you have or the ST number off the plate at the back, but there is nothing that can't be fixed. Easier with the manual of course! Re: RA 1792 Fault?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Stuart,Did you check the battery? There is an active discussion on the RA6790/GM list now about the 1792.? Perhaps you should join that list.? Lots of help there. Tom Bryan N3AJA On 8/28/2010 2:54 AM, Stuartjmckinnon@... wrote:

RA 1792 Fault?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Group
?
I have an Ex Telford Electronics 1792, which I have had for approx 4 yrs
now, purchased off the Bay, it has a mod on back for two terminals which take
the input voltage currently feeding in 28v.
?
When I first had this rx, it was working ok, then I left it standing in a
dry shack for at least a couple of years, on switch on it displays a load of
nought's, if you switch off after a few min's, then back on again, it then shows
two numbers say 54 a gap of an inch or so, then approx 6 numbers say 545550,
that is on the freq display window(Non backlit) on the right window two digits
at the far right????? pressing any button at random produces Jack!
?
Can anyone help
?

Redifon GK 203 A
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Group

Slightly off topic,
?
On the subject of my driver GK 203 A for Alpha version driver for the GA
485 1 KW station, it is missing it's handles that you use to draw the unit in
and out of the cabinet, if anyone can help, they are straight i.e. perpendicular
top to bottom as opposed to the splayed ones of the 203N, and the dimension
between the two fixing wholes is 4 inches, can you help?

Racal Kaynard / FRM 4750
Hi, I am looking for any information on the Racal Kaynard portable data transceiver which seems to be an earlier version or prototype for the FRM 4750.
The Kaynard (like the 4750) consists of three units, a dual HF synthesised Tx/Rx which looks like it is derived from a manpack, a PSU and 20 watt RF amp, and an encoder/decoder unit which takes pre-recorded tapes or can be used manually to send figure groups. There is a separate auto ATU designed for use with a long wire antenna. It was made for transportation in suitcases. There are details of the FRM 4750 in Jane's Military Communications 1987 on page 447 and in the 1991/92 edition on page 446 with pictures. There is no mention in the 1979/80 edition and I suspect the Kaynard was introduced between these dates. The Kaynard is painted brown and cream which suggests its users were not military. I have a set of manuals for the 4750 from which it is clear that there are some differences with the Kaynard. Amusingly the Kaynard has a front panel digital clock which consists of the body of a watch made in the Soviet Union. If anyone has any info on the Kaynard itself or what organisation might have used it I would be pleased to hear from you. Regards Roger |

Raven Gear
Vic just posted this in another group. If anyone takes him up on his offer I would be interested in any accessories for the PTR4400/RT-F200 that they don't want.
Howard VK4BS Guys, I have around 30 Plessey RAVEN modules (ICE, MODEM's, Co-siting Filters, Interfaces, etc) and mounts available. THEY ARE FREE TO A GOOD HOME!!!!!!!! BUT!!!! You have to collect them from my workshop in Blyth, Northumberland.... I need the room and quickly, they will be disposed of by Saturday this week unless there are any takers.... I also have some 'Brand New' PYE SSB-200 HF transceivers at ?90 each too. Contact me off list if you have any interest! |

3 cells Patricio, so 3.6 Volts nominally. I made replacements from 3 x 100 mAH NiMH button cells potted in epoxy similar to the originals. I even copied the original label. Google does show some sources for the manual in pdf form, but you may have to pay for it :^) Search for "MA4224 manual" Dan |
