I just purchased a TRA-921.
I need to purchase a service manual for it.
I found an incomplete manual on PA3ECT's website.
It is missing the RX-and TX portions.
any help would be great!

Thanks to Julian, the 17-page Operators Manual for this equipment is now in the "Files" section.

Many thanks to you an Julian on that one Bob. Can you give me a url? I can't find it in the files section. I do have one version but it's not a good scan and the version of the manual in question is riddled with errors. The manual, it would appear, was published by the MoD rather than Racal.

On another note, our files section is up to 97% capacity. I do remember when we were only allowed 30MB and it wasn't that long ago. However, as storage capability increases, wouldn't it be nice if our hosts could give us a storage capacity equating to a current day? flash drive rather than a last centuary zip disk?

Technical Manuals for Mobilcom Units - are these available anywhere?

Greetings all,

I have some Racal/Mobilcom units that need checking out as all may not well with them. Can any of you experts point me to the Technical Manuals for the following Syncal related items:

- MA.935 AC Power Supply
- MA.936 12/24v DC Power Unit

Plus one oddball item more out of curiosity if any info is in circulation. Does anyone know what principle it uses or any connector pinouts? Analogue slice and dice or something really in the digital direction.
- MA.4202 Voice Encryption Unit

Many thanks for reading this far and here's hoping.
Greetings from Vienna

Yahoo oddities

There are a few old messages showing up in various Yahoogroups.

According to Yahoo, this is due to some maintenance being performed.

The old messages should soon dwindle and stop appearing.

Hi Tone,

looks as if it is made out of Syncal 30 boards - what you have labelled as RX boards in the pictures seem to be complete with TX parts as well, so effectively the RX boards are low power transceiver boards as per the Syncal. The synth looks identical as well

Thanks Michael,
I'd worked out that the boards were also used in the TRA-931. It was on that strength that I bought it on eBay. All noted on the RF board, I was never quite sure if it handled TX as well as RX.

Tone

Re: PRC320 and dipole?

Yes, the meter is in cct when the o/p socket at the rear is used as you say Michael. I really meant there was no way of knowing what the match is but I guess the simple answer is an swr meter from the rear socket off to?the ae.
?
Anyway, if the rain stops I'll be trying it out this weekend !!

cheers, Ben.
Ben,

I don't think this is right unless your 320 has a fault. Having used the 320 with precut dipoles (and making rapid adjustments to inverted vees as well to change freq) I can assure you that in the Tune position the 320 is supposed to give a meter reading which shows relatively how much is going out. On my home dipole I get about 2/3 on 40m and 20m and by stepping up and down the band and retrying you can see which end is best resonant, a simple analyser. And with an inverted vee you trim by rolling, unrolling wire till it's a good match (in amateur use of course where no one is df-ing hopefully)

You can also use a 320 as an atu for an A13 or an LHP219 by using the other socket!

It is well known, Bob, that you can get a licence to take your kit abroad for display and return.

No problems

Now SELLING is another thing especially if you are doing it commercially, however how many of the "dealers" have a licence to sell Clansman abroad, for instance?

If you set up an 80M dipole, it will work okay on 40.

If you set up a 40M dipole, it won't work so well on 80.
