Re: WANTED RACAL TA940B 100 WATT HF LINEAR AMP.

Terry,

My interest in this topic stems from the fact that I have just built a new shack and I am in the process of re-commissioning a lot of equipment that has been idle too long. Among it is Racal gear where I am facing a dispose or use decision. The problem is that I don't? have enough space for all my 19 inch rack gear. I have 2 rare Racal desktop cabinets as one possibility. I would like to use my RA117 and MA79 to transceive together but to add another 9 inch rack unit is not viable and that¡¯s why I left that amplifier in the good hands of a fellow member and historian of AWASA 8 years ago. However I have a number of low power military and homebrew rig options besides the MA79, which I would also like to boost to a 100 watt PEP level. It could be done easily with a pair of 6146B's, a more sensible choice than the TT21's used in the amplifier in the photos. I am in the process of building such an amplifier initially with a pair of 807¡¯s. The PA deck is made detachable so that I can test alternative valves easily. Due to the various applications it needs a variety of input matching options, and a driver which can be bypassed for the higher power rigs. Importantly for the multimode input of the MA79, the control of the PA bias is taken to the front panel and will be metered so that the amplifier can be set to Class AB1 for an AM input and class C for an SSB input. This project uses a redundant R1155 chassis and case because my use will be with WW2 airborne equipment, but it could equally well be built on a Racal or WS19 high power compatible metalwork.

What would be helpful would be a TA940B manual and schematic if someone could kindly point me in the right direction
