Hi All,
When I receive a copy of the recording of our discussion today, I'll forward it to you.? While these do not do the conversation justice, here are summary notes I took...
  • Mike doesn't want actors to be yelling at each other throughout (as some productions have done).? We can increase intensity as the show progresses.
  • Wants Hamm/Clov to reflect they have a mutual interdependence?even if the characters aren't actively aware of it.
  • Underlying the Hamm/Clov relationship is a real affection
  • How do we feel about Mom/Dad in the can?
  • How we use words & 'coloration" can affect the meaning.? We will try different variations during rehearsals.
  • Wants the audience to leave the performance NOT thinking that the play was 'absurd'.? Wants their first reaction to be 'what a great play!'.? The next thought is what great acting!
  • For this to be a great play, ?the 4 actors must understand their own and each other's character, and you must ENJOY your role.? You all need to be tight.? It won't be great if each of you have an individually great performance; a team performance is required.
Thanks
Beth

Hi All,
I'm sorry to do this to you, but I learned the hard way tonight that some people who I thought were receiving these group emails, were really not getting them.? Would you please confirm that you got this.? And if possible, when you reply, replace the email with my own email.?
When you reply to a email it goes to EVERYONE on the email list.
Thanks
Beth

Re: ENDGAME - Rehearals

Yikes - so sorry to miss the first read through!? Sunday the 26th is one of the times I indicated I would be out of town (big family gathering for a 100th birthday in Tennessee). I ?am especially interested in the initial discussions about vision/approach so hate to miss.? Oh well. I will be there on Wed. the 29th.?

Only other issue for me is Monday, June 17 (flying home that day but should be back by rehearsal time.? May be moot because I think Nagg may be one vacation then anyway).

Looking forward to getting started,
Sallie
