Researchers zero in on original Indo-Europeans

Ancient DNA and archaeology studies zero in on a population living 6,000 years ago between the Caucasus and the lower Volga River as origin of the family of languages now spoken from Europe to India

Details on Y-chromosomes in Table 6:

?

There are few new Y chromosomes of interest. Of potential relevance is I6884, dated to 2852-2500 BC near Rostov-on-Don (47.22 N 40.1 W) and typed as R-L51. R-L51 is the precursor to R-U106 (R-L151>P310>L151>U106) and is dateable to circa 4100 BC. I6884 post-dates the Corded Ware Culture migrations, but is one of the earliest R-L51 samples we have, and (I think) the earliest in the former USSR, somewhere in which we think our ancestors in this period originated.
