Re: Administrator access to BAM files

Dear James and Friends,

? ?My FTDNA Y-700 file should now give?you and Nigel McCarthy?
advanced access.? If I'm wrong about that, please let me know and I'll?
try right away to fix it.

Nigel, I am the admin for my father, John Fitzgibbon, who passed away at age 101 1/2 ?in 2015. There was enough DNA left for the Big Y500, but not for the Big Y700. I did however pay for Gary Dale Fitzgibbon & Robert Valentine Fitzgibbon to test at the Y700 level. They were matches but we don¡¯t yet know how we connect on a tree.? Can you make sure that you have an ?accessible BAM file for all three of us and that we are in the YDNA warehouse. I have given the advanced permission to the Admins. Thank you for all that you do for all of us.?

When it comes to the Warehouse, the site is intended to be self-service.? You create an account and manage your own test files.? The benefit in doing this is you can play with the new matching tools and look if there are closer matches in different DNA test pools.? For example: ?23andMe¡¯s panels have several of the CTS4466 terminal branches.? You could wind up with matches this way, should a cousin upload their test panel.

If you truly wish to participate and have no interest in administering the data yourself, I can put the files there for you will not unless specifically asked.? First you will need to go into your FTDNA Account Settings > Project Preferences.? Click the ¡°Pen¡± icon for R1b-CTS4466 Plus and change me to Advanced before it can be completed.? You may wish to update Nigel at the same time.

At the moment only three people can check the existence of files that don¡¯t belong to themselves, Iain McDonald, Alex Williamson and myself via a query API.? At the moment neither Gary or Robert are present.? Your father, John, is here because we collected the information via email years ago.

Nigel will shortly have the ability to look at?CP086569.2 alignments should he desire.? The track viewer has two more minor issues to resolve:
?1) Need a button to retrieve the encrypted file from Glacier, if it hasn¡¯t been accessed in the last week.
?2) The majority of the BAMs that were converted have not been made the round trip from the warehouse to my workstation and back.? Originally, we planned to just use the gVCF files.? After further analysis it¡¯s just as economical to use CRAM compression on the original files.

Once done I¡¯ll bump his account up to the new Researcher role that gives access to those screens.
