I rebuilt hamlib to latest and greatest version. 1. x6100 works find instead of 5105 2. rigctld works great. 3. flrig still doesn't work.
so, for now, i'm done with flrig

I also use linux mint and v19 - everything works fine. I assume you are using cmedia input/output on the audio page, so the only thing I would try is setting the device to x5105. I think sometimes hamlib lags behind updates.
