Re: Introducing the Do Track -- A Learning tool for our two new Regional songs

Wellllll, it seems I was mistaken - if you downloaded it FOR YOURSELF and you need a new copy - feel free. The system is smart enough (apparently smarter than ME!) to understand unique downloads.

But again...download only for yourself, otherwise we can't properly track copies.

Heads up, folks!

If you have ALREADY downloaded the sheet music for Let's Sing Again - DO NOT re-download it. You will be receiving an email shortly with the updated version of the sheet music.

We only purchased licenses for 200, and if everyone who downloaded already does so again, we'll be over our legal allotment and need to buy more copies to stay legal.

On the other side of that, if you received "your" copy WITHOUT downloading it from the site...well...you really need to download your own copy so we stay legal.?

And yes - we CAN tell who has and who has not.

Thanks for helping the Region save money.

Dear Region 11 Summer Sizzler Attendees,

With Sizzler 2 weeks away, I have a learning tool I’d like to share with you for our 2 new songs -- the Do Track! I have made Do Tracks for “Let’s Sing Again” and “Wink and a Smile.”

You can download the Do Tracks by visiting the Members Only section of the Region 11 website ( ( ) ). You will find them in the STAR SONGS section under "A Wink and a Smile" and "Let's Sing Again."

*What is a “Do Track”?*

It is the words sung on the tonic ( AKA “the key of the song” or “1st scale step” or “Do” as in do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, Do).

The “Do” track is sung in the timing ( both tempo and interpretation) including dynamics (not included on these tracks) of the musical plan.

*Why should you take the time to use this resource?*

Step One:

While you sing along with me (maybe an Octave higher, but still on do) you are learning:

· the lyrics

· the timing of the lyrics

· the tonal center

· dynamics

· and any artistic plans intended!

Do this daily between now and Sizzler.

Whew! What’s left? …. the notes!

Step Two, once you are confident with the plan on do:

· Practicing singing against do on your part.

· Use the do track for maintaining pitch. This is a great way to make sure you are in tune.

· Check your intervals against the dough track to make sure all intervals are clean and accurate.

Please note, this technique is for technical proficiency only; story and character must be developed into this plan as early as possible!

*A special note about the interpretative plan for “Let’s Sing Again”:*

The learning tracks for this song are great for notes and words but they do not match the interp that we will be using at Summer Sizzler. There are numerous rhythmic changes that you will want to familiarize yourself with starting now.

The good news is the Do Track for this song incorporates these rhythmic changes. In addition, there is now a version of the sheet music available on the website that is marked up to show these changes.

I hope you find this tool helpful as we bring our Regional musical product to the next level!

Don’t delay! Go the website at SAIregion11.org, Members Only, STAR SONGS and download the Do tracks for both songs and the annotated sheet music for Let’s Sing Again.
