Re: Newbie Tech looking for some help setting u

Ron,

You are very welcome.

I must add that CHIRP does indeed set all setting correctly. I have used CHIRP to program my radios, the radios we use for Queen Creek Emergency Communications Group, and for about 50 or so members' radios.

There was a glitch in your case.

Unusual things happen with CHIRP if you don't start with a saved copy of your original downloaded radio content (some refer to it as the codeplug). The correct process is to download your radio's content and save that file, make a copy, and enter your frequency map into that file copy.

Strange this happen - or worse - if that process is not followed.

Hope to hear you on our repeater soon.

Joe

Joe, and everyone else to gave me help on the Baofeng, I got it working with the help of KI7QZP (credit where credit is due).
Turns out that the CHIRP software sais it's setting certain setting which actually it doesn't set in the radio and thus they have to be added manually after programming.
We did get it working now with manual programming of the offset.
Thanks again to everyone and im looking forward to meeting some of you at a club meeting soon.

Just a note: I am continuing this thread on the Group just for edification on diagnosing issues.

They seem ok but you are probably not going to fire up those two repeaters in Phoenix.

Lets work one issue at a time.

You don't see the contents of your memory location menus on the radio, you can only see VFO setting for the menus of the band you are on.

In VFO mode (440 Mhz band), program in the frequency I said before - 449.325 and enter the following in the Menus...

Number 1 -5k

Number 7 -OFF

Number 10 -OFF

Number 11 -OFF

Number 12 -OFF

Number 13 -100.0 Hz

Number 25 - (-)

Number 26 -005.000

Now, when you transmit the display will change from 449.325 to 444.325.

I'll be listening

Joe, in an effort to be clearer about this, im including a screen shot of the CHIRP window showing the 2 repeaters I have tried.
According to this screenshot, both the PL tone and frequency offset are programmed already. Not sure what else needs to be done.
