Re: QuadToneRIP install
Hi All Thanks for your help. Problem is now solved When I checked for tif file compression I only checked a file that I had prepared and it was OK (but I didn't test in QTR), the problem file that I had tried to import into QTR was from another source and I had not checked that it was uncompressed. Just assumed that it would have been. When re-saved in uncompressed form all is good. Thanks again and apologies for extending this problem longer than I needed to. Cheers, Paul

Re: QuadToneRIP install
I just checked and compression was off for tif files

Re: Yes, another ICC profile in QTR question....
开云体育Opps, I wasn’t very clear. “And he said he didn’t see the point photographing his real prints… ?when emailing them for a gallery proposal …because the simulations were that close.” ? ? From:
[email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of Peter Miles via groups.io <p.miles@...> Roy wrote.. “RGB ones are equivalent. But standard soft-proofing in this context really doesn't show much useful info.?? ? That’s not been my experience. ?The photoshop soft proofs using the RGB ICC profiles that QTR generates for the albumen, salt and cyanotype processes we have used are very close to the print. And that is when doing the comparison in a GTI viewing booth. In fact the correlation between the print and the simulation for an albumen process I was working with at the time was so good that the photographer used the RGB ICC simulations of his albumen process to email to galleries for making show proposals. And he only printed the negatives after they had make their selection. He once phoned me just to tell me how close his Albumen prints were to the simulations. In his words his prints were “almost identical”. And he said he didn’t see the point photographing his real prints because the simulations were that close. And it saved him a ton of work making prints that the gallery wasn’t going to show. ? We have our Cyanotype process RGB ICC profile in our student labs. While not perfect, the soft-proof is a good enough colour and contrast simulation for basic wysiwyg contrast adjustments to the image. ? I am not sure why others are not having similar experiences with QTR’s RGB ICC simulations. Maybe it’s because the ‘Simulate Paper Colour’ has not been turned on in the soft proof display options. If it’s off, the soft proof preview get seriously out of whack. ? Peter ? ? ? |

Re: Can I print black and white with only 8 of the 9 ink channels of a 3800?
Hi Mark,
Don't give up. Though i do not know anything about your printer I read some time ago about users let there printhead rest some time in contact with a cushion saturated with a solvent. Perhaps this could be a way to go for you. horst |
Re: Can I print black and white with only 8 of the 9 ink channels of a 3800?
Hi Mark Unfortunately the printhead has only 8 sets of jets, -- the blacks are switched before getting to the head. So if you are missing Y you only have 7 left to use.? You might ask Paul to recommend which ink to leave?out -- if you make your own curves you have a lot of flexibility. Soooo, can I forget the yellow ink channel and use the other 8 inks and develop appropriate QTR B&W profiles? BTW I am making my B&W inks up using Paul Roark's recipes. Thank you Mark |

开云体育OH thank heavens. I’m getting one. So David, did you do this first as Roy said: “So just duplicate <cmd>D? the Install and rename to InstallP5370=P900.command” Thanks for testing this! BTW if you do VDB the profile has been working great. Testing it on argyrotype shortly. Chris ? From:

Looks like we have a confirmed winner. There is measurable tone at 5%, just hard to show in the photograph.
