Re: quadtonerip and print tool istallation on a new MINIMAC M4 (Sequoia 15.1)
Thank you for your response - it still does not appear ?- the Mac is new and The only down loads are the quad tone rip - even though I click for the print tool down load at the Quadtonerip webpage and see it fly to my computers download it does not appear in the list- I attach a photograph of the view list ?- I do not know why. Why wouldn’t? It is not complicated. It’s not a big list? On Mon, 27 Jan 2025 at 12:47?PM Eben Ostby via <ebenostby=[email protected]> wrote:

开云体育Here’s what happened: you downloaded it but when you looked in your Downloads folder, it was sorted in such a way that the files you want weren’t at the top of the list.?Search through your Downloads folder for the Print-Tool files - there will be the zip file which, if you haven’t already, you want to double-click on to unpack it. And then there will be the Print-Tool folder. That’s what you want. In “List View” in the Finder, you can also choose to sort by “Date Added” if that column is visible, and your stuff should be at the top.

quadtonerip and print tool istallation on a new MINIMAC M4 (Sequoia 15.1)
Hello - this is my first post in this group- I? need some guidance to be able to install the print tool on my new minimac m4 ?computer. I am new to quadftonerip. I am a photographer that prints cyanotypes on high temperature porcelain. I have been using EDN to do my adjustment curves but would like to use quadtonerip ands move beyond the cyanotypes to other alt processes printed on thin hight temp porcelain tiles. To do this I bought a new? MiniMac M4 computer (Sequoia 15.1) and a new SCp700 printer (10 ink). I have always been a windows user but know that to use quadtonerip and do my curves and print need a Mac computer. I have had trouble installing my epson SCp700. I was able to install quadtonerip and I installed the profiles of the p700. I can see them in my library and in photoshop I see the quadp700 printer. What I have not been able is to install the print tool. When I try to download Print-Tool-2.3.4.zip it downloads a DMG file (SCP700_Lite_64NR2_NA.dmg) not a folder. When I click on the DMG file it takes me to the Epson installer and reinstall the epson software and drivers not the print-tool. I am not able to get print tool dialog box.
?
Can someone help me? Am I doing something wrong??
?
Your help would be much appreciated
?
Thanks?

Re: p5370 quad files
开云体育Oh, I would highly recommend it over the P900. But it’ll take two people to lift it, it’s $2000 and takes $1000 in ink. In the long run, cheaper tho.
? I did not discover this; I kept getting the error light beeping at me. It was my student who prints on the large printers in the digital lab and she knew that paper had to be loaded and ready, down in the printer, before hitting print. ? That is not true of the P900 or any smaller printer I have worked with before. ? But I had 16 students printing digital negatives right away in lab last week. ? I thought at first oh no, the profiles were NOT good because some students got very contrasty prints, so I brought negatives home and printed them in my lab here and realized it was not the printer but student error (either not selecting the profile or not enough humidity in the paper or not enough exposure in the light boxes). It’s really only easy for me to compare apples to apples in a controlled environment aka my home dimroom. ? The only other thing I noticed at first was printing a half inch of less dense along the first or last edge of the image, but making an image only 9 inches tall and not up to the edge of the OHP solved that. ? It is so much higher quality than the P900… ? Chris ? Christina Z. Anderson Montana State University Newly revised? ? ? From:
[email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of DM Witman via groups.io <dmwitman@...> Well, that is really good news. ?Based on your experience, I am thinking we might replace one of our printers with a P5370. Any quirks that you’ve noticed yet? ? ~DM ? ?

p5370 quad files
开云体育I’ve printed both classic and new cyanotype with the P900 profiles printed with the P5370 and they work as expected so as far as I am concerned I can extrapolate from those two processes that I have no need to create modified profiles from the ones I created for the P900. Chris ? |
Re: black only!
Sure you can use black only.
There are lots of examples of this in "MIS" folders in the QTR download for 1400 printer. But as Hendrik mentions the dots will be visible in the highlights. I suggest trying various combinations before you decide. You may like to add the LK and maybe even the LLK. Actually its probably easiest to look at the UCmk-...-warm.txt profiles for the 3880. They use just K, LK, LLK. Make variations by just commenting out the inks in the GRAY section. Roy |
black only!
hello I'm wondering if I can use only black ( matt) with this software I have it since 4-5 years and I love it but now I have a epson 3880 that I only need the black matt ink and replacing al the other can get expensive and the are only there to west? when the printer is doing a head cleaning cycle ... but I can't use the printer if there one color missing $$$ so I wnat just use the black Matt and put all generic fill with cleaning liquid to make the printer think there full... the cleaning fuel is 50$ a litre so I will save a lot of money and never get my head dry.....so my question is can I us only black matt and forget about the other ink that I dont use?? or is there another way to tell the printer to print if it,s missing a color ink!?!?
thank you!! |
Re: QTR: Scaling
The said positioning problem with QTR under win10 only arises when using the comma as the system-wide decimal character, as in the majority of the European countries. My tests suggest the following explanation.
?
If the OS is set to use the decimal 'comma' the QTR GUI can handle the top and left input data (inch or mm units) properly and the preview on screen shows the correct position of the image on the paper sheet, suggesting all is o.k. But when the GUI communicates the input position data to the core of QTR then all units are converted to inches and only the decimal 'point' is accepted internally. As a result the positioning data are truncated to integer multiples of one inch and the image is printed correspondingly (in general differently from the preview).
?
Therefore, an accurate specified positioning of the image on the paper is only achieved if the system-wide decimal symbol is the decimal point. The size of the image is never affected, because it must not be specified in inches or mm in the GUI.

Re: Convert .quad file to .qidf file?
There is a manual workaround that I have used if on a PC using the Main QTR Print Screen. 1- Put the quad file in as if going to print 2- Right click on it and you can see the quad ink curve(s) displayed 3- take down key readings from each ink curve (you may need every 5 units if lots of abrupt changes) 4- Then go to the Curve Creator and create using Curve feature on each ink if not easily produced with the other options 5- Save the qidf file and now you can adjust/tweak if needed Hope this helps… any ideas and suggestions appreciated ? |
Re: Printer descriptor file (ppd) not found for printer quad error

Hi Greg If this "QTR/Profiles/Quad5000 folder/" this is indeed your folder name, the problem is the space in the name -- change the space to _ or - No special characters are allowed in folder names, file names and curve names in general. The whole -greg is optional. The key is printer name and the install script have to match. So printer would be QuadP5000 and script InstallP5000.command -- note the "P" is part of the printer name. (btw - P5000 is now supported with its own name so the =4900 extra is unnecessary) Roy |
Re: Everyday backlit prints
开云体育Thanks, Mike.Red River Glossy seems like the way to go.
Your digital negative method looks amazingly impressive, though daunting for those of us who have used QTR only in fairly simple ways. It’s been several years since I checked to see what QTR stuff was available online, but 10 years ago I didn’t find the
explanations/instructions too helpful for the uninitiated. :-)
