Alan,

Thanks for the clarification regarding Print Tool.

I only use my older iMac as a stand-alone print station. ?I edit separately with a Mac Studio. ?And USB drives are my friend for shuttling print files back and forth, :-).

For now, the dedicated pre-Ventura Mac is the best solution I can see - C1 - PS - LR - Print Tool all work perfectly on High Sierra and you don’t need a powerful machine and you can bomb proof it by removing any Internet access so Apple or other cannot update this.

Adobe product will eventually fail without Internet access as they licence via Internet and eventually force a check -?

My old Windows7 is broken for Adobe products due to this as they don’t support it or the best Google browser you can run on W7 so no Licence check is possible - Adobe products fire up but you cannot edit anything as a result.

My experience is that if I leave the drop down at “Default” it actually uses my last used settings.
Counterintuitive but that’s what I’m seeing.

If the folder that file is sitting in has the permissions closed down incorrectly by Apple, then the program can’t write the presets to a file. I’m reluctant to give advice on changing permissions here because I got scolded the last time I suggested that. But just make sure that permissions for the Preference folder allow more than just the user to read and write to it. Perhaps someone else can chime in here.

Re: DTP on Epson P900

Hi Cheryl,

I am using a P700 for DTP and have had the same issues. I’ve had my printer over a year, the first half of the year everything printed fine, and suddenly the line began appearing and wouldn’t cease. The only work around I’ve found is to create carriers with at least 1 inch margins. I don’t think there is any “settling in” that will correct the issue on my printer. The carrier keeps the rollers from hitting the plate directly because the carrier margins are slightly raised above the plate surface. I hope something helps!?

Best,
Chloe

From what I've gathered (and it seems to be working, or improving) the P900 needs some time to "settle in". I followed some advice from various members in this group and printed a few prints (using just a small percentage of ink to avoid wastage) on posterboard. This seems to help the rollers to settle in. The two lines are now nearly gone and I can barely see them on the plate. This is the last image I printed a couple of weeks ago. I need to print again and see if the issue returns. I would suggest you try this and see if there is improvement. I also think that the P900 would be happier with thinner plates. Hope this helps.

Re: DTP on Epson P900

I’m having the same problem with my P900 - getting a deep gouge in the middle of the Toyota 93 plates.
?
I bought my P900 in April and making plates worked well at first. Recently, I had to update the printer software settings - but I think the problem started even before then. I’m feeding the plates directly into the front-loading feeder on poster board without using a carrier sled. I’ve modified a profile from the Epson Media Installer (helped by another photogravure printmaker so I can’t recall how the settings were modified) and printing through Photoshop. I’m unable to continue with printmaking until this problem is solved and I’ve just begun trying to figure it out, so any help is very welcome. Thanks!

I know this has been a problem for a while but what has really confused me is that I had it all set up and working for a while and then the presets disappeared when I installed a new qtr curve.
Very frustrating as you can imagine.
Any help would be wonderful..
