There appears to be some variation in the thickness of mat board. Currently, I make my carriers using a solid 2-ply for the base and then another 2-ply with a cut-out window to hold the plate. It probably wouldn’t hurt to have something thinner on the bottom as long as it has some rigidity. I know Dave Marsh makes really cool carriers using thin aluminum sheets for the bottom. And some people are able to print their plates without any carrier at all - although when I have tried doing this the plate skids and I end up with a mess.?

Hello Clay
?
I have just received a pack of 2 ply matt board from Archival Methods and would like to ask the following question. Is the carrier fashioned out of 2 sheets of 2 ply board? One as a base and the
other one with the cut-out window? Or should the base be of a thinner material? I have measured the thickness of 2 boards together and this works out at 1.43mm (not 1.27mm).?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks and a Happy New Year to all.
