Re: Printer Presents_Sonoma 14.5

Like a lot of other people, I found dedicating an old laptop just for printing works best. The only issue is that when newer printers come out, they may not work on pre silicon macs.

Alan,

Thanks for the clarification regarding Print Tool.

I only use my older iMac as a stand-alone print station. ?I edit separately with a Mac Studio. ?And USB drives are my friend for shuttling print files back and forth, :-).

Print Tool is unfortunately not a solution here, it too is affected by the Apple presets issues.

I bought Print Tool and QTR specifically hoping I could circumvent the issues, but no, Roy Harrington explained to me that it was nearly impossible to code around this issue without Apple being involved and he has no such clout with Apple.

For now, the dedicated pre-Ventura Mac is the best solution I can see - C1 - PS - LR - Print Tool all work perfectly on High Sierra and you don¡¯t need a powerful machine and you can bomb proof it by removing any Internet access so Apple or other cannot update this.

Adobe product will eventually fail without Internet access as they licence via Internet and eventually force a check -?

My old Windows7 is broken for Adobe products due to this as they don¡¯t support it or the best Google browser you can run on W7 so no Licence check is possible - Adobe products fire up but you cannot edit anything as a result.

Silvi,

Like Alan mentioned I have an old iMac that I use as a print station (locked with Catalina and not connected to the Internet). ?Have you tried using the Print Tool stand alone app for printing your plates? ?It is very easy to save QTR presets. ?IMO it is an amazing piece of s/w for the price considering all the features. ?It is easy to print w/ or w/o color management in your workflow so you know exactly what you¡¯ll get. ?And it bypasses the ongoing Apple vs. Adobe war that we have to suffer through each time their software is updated or upgraded, :-).

Epson Print Layout is a possible workaround.?

Printing from Capture One, PhotoShop or Lightroom on any Sonoma version ?(and I think same on Ventura) simply is broken. Not only presets but also continually not using Colorsync. High Sierra works perfectly, but no cannot be i stalled ?for Apple silicon like M1 M2 M3

I keep my old MBP for printing with High Sierra - Totally ridiculous when I spent more than 3K on a new M3 ?- Problem is 100% on Apple, but they just push you to use preview which also does seem to work but is limited.

Thanks for the reference Michael. There is no real easy explanations as to a fix for the presets problem in any forums I have read.?
The latest and easiest explanations are on Tracey Valleu's blog but unfortunately no fix-?
?
Anyone out there find any workaround solutions??
