Re: Icom Id-4100a and raspberry pi for terminal mode

The first question is, "Is there a D-STAR repeater in range?" -- That is actually the best way, if it has a gateway that can be linked to the Quadnet.? People are over quick to jump to "hotspots" and "terminal/access mode", without finding out your total environment.

I have the Icom ID4100a and was told I could get a raspberry pi? and use the terminal mode in the radio to get connected to quad net? and dstar. My question is what I need to do this. I have a pi 3B the radio and the programming cable. I am wondering what I need to connect the radio to the pi without purchasing the radio board for the pi. Funds are an issue due to losing our daughter to cancer and the time my wife was out of work taking care of her. Any information would greatly be appreciated. I am a total dummy at this new amateur radio thing.
