Re: New QSI driver- released 8/5/24

Vince,
?
Thank you for your response. I should have been more specific with my objectives.?
?
I am using my QSI 600 series camera with TSX and FM5. FM5 has the ability to change the Readout Mode to improve the download speed when focusing. When complete, it switches it back to whatever it was before. Presumably the High imaging quality selection.
?
Many users are stuck using the 32bit version of TSX because the ASCOM driver does not operate the same way the X2 driver works for QSI cameras.?
?
Will this new driver accommodate the process I have noted above and secondly, are there any plans of introducing a 64bit X2 driver?
?
Thank you in advance,
Barry

Re: New QSI driver- released 8/5/24

Does anybody know if there is any firmware upgrade for the 500 series anywhere? Or in alternative, do you know if the 600 series firmware is good also for the 500?

thanks
Nicola

Re: New QSI driver- released 8/5/24

Hello Barry,
?
Yes update includes 64 bit support, there is also a new QSI demo app that can be used to test the cameras with. The gain and offset functions will only work with the new CMOS 700 series cameras though.
?
We would be glad to hear any feed back support@...
?
Thanks
Vince

New QSI driver- released 8/5/24

Has anyone tried this updated QSI driver yet? I¡¯m curious if it 64 bit.?

T-adapter - looking for a flat one

I have a QSI T-adapter for my 600-series camera that has a ring protruding about 5mm from the front face.
?
I am believing from the user drawings that the T-adapter is a .225" thick flat plate with threads. No machined-in or built-in ring, like a spacer, so to speak.
?
Which one is correct? Wanting the flat one for my ONAG.
?
Does anyone have the flat .225 thick T-mount adapter that they would like to sell?

Hi Bruce,

I had this headache with my QSI6120. Exactly the same. So I kept checking the USB plugs, changed a cable, a it worked again. I think the USB has to be a tight fit to get anywhere.?

Subject: [QSI-CCD] false camera connection
?
I am having a routine problem with a false camera startup.? My system is Scheduler/ACP, Maxim, QSI 632 running with ASCOM driver.? After start-up, the Maxim camera window shows the camera to be QSI, the cooler to be running, and the temperature falling.? However, if you try to take an image, it will report no camera and error 3001.? If allowed, Scheduler will run all night attempting to take images and report them as failed. ?But, disconnect the camera after start-up and reconnect and it works fine. ?Something needs adjusting in the startup routine is all I can figure. ?Not sure what log might provide useful info. ?I attach startup script.

Suggestions please.

Re: 6120 Amp Glow

So far all of my experience with CCD is the archaic ST2000XM and that's been almost two decades ago.

Re: 6120 Amp Glow

Important not to freak out until you have tested equipment properly :) images will always look riddled with non uniformities when stretched to such a degree.?

Re: 6120 Amp Glow

If so, that's really good news because I was really freaking out about it.

Re: 6120 Amp Glow

yeah, you¡¯re looking at a screen stretch. They look terrible in TSX, This is not Amp glow And your sensor is likely just fine

Re: 6120 Amp Glow

OK, I can do that and no, no calibration yet.

So far these are shots taken under the @Focus 3 command in TSX.

Re: 6120 Amp Glow

Are you looking at a stretched image inside of TSX to make this judgement?
Have you tried calibrating out your images yet?

If you want you can send a raw dark image (FIT or XSIF) to my email and I can tell you if it deviates much from my 6120's.

6120 Amp Glow

Hello,
?
I have a 6120WSG that has significant amp glow top to bottom (black noise to white noise) on image while setting up new observatory.
?
Bought used, first time I have used it.? Just using to set focus in TSX at the moment. Is this normal?
?
Thanks.

What a wonderful image.? I checked out the Hubble image in the Wikipedia article about this galaxy and I am amazed that you could get such detail and color with a 12.5" scope.? Congratulations!

Re: NGC 6503 image

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
@Peter - the target is a bit challenging because of the large dynamic range.? The core area is very bright while the extended disk and arms are quite faint and low-contrast.? But at least with a Dec of 70 degrees, it's in a good sky location for you. :-)

NGC 6503 is a "field" dwarf spiral galaxy in the direction of the constellation Draco. ?The "field" classification means it is not part of a cluster or group and is gravitationally alone, an unusual situation for a spiral galaxy. ?It has been dubbed the "lost in space" galaxy because it resides at the edge of a vast empty region of space known as the Local Void. ?It is only 30,000 light-years in size, less than 1/3 the size of our Milky Way galaxy.
The image was captured during 4 nights from June-July 2024 from SkyPi Remote Observatory using a 12.5" PlaneWave scope and a QSI-640ws camera at f/8 for a final LRGB integration of 16 hours.
