Got it working. Stripped it down and had actually bent a pin on the floppy cable connector....explains it all. Formatting sorted and works a treat. Will post a pic of the jumper settings to help

If you look on gotekemulator.com/Download.asp ( http://www.gotekemulator.com/Download.asp ) , there are a number of programs some of which may be able to pre-format the USB partitions in 2HD format.?
