Fist QRP ops from east coast

Hello QRPopsters,

I have been in Cambridge, MA since Monday and will be here until mid-May except that I will be back in CA from 4/27-5/3 to attend the West Coast Military Radio Collectors' meeting in San Luis Obispo.

I brought my minimalist QRP gear on this trip and operated it for the first time this evening. My QTH turned out to be excellent: 6th floor with an openable (is there such a word?) window and no local QRN. My first?contact was an SSB 2.5 watts 20m contact with TI2AIM in Costa Rica. That's about 3000 miles! In quick succession, I worked a bunch of W4s coming in loudly. Among them is a CW contact with K4MQ who was running 5 watts QRP from Alabama. I heard W6s and W7s though they were not as strong as W4s and W9s. All of these were between 1830 and 1900 EST. ?I have a feeling that west coast will come in better earlier in the evening, something like my 1700s (your 1400s) and I should be able to work W6s at the rate the sun spots are increasing now. I will let you know when I am on the air again. QRP rocks!
