QRP+ is deaf
I left my antenna on it years ago in the winter and a freak storm fried the sbl-1 and left it with almost no reception. I bought a new sbl-1 I believe from a company called Mini-Circuits. I took off the old one and seem to remember soldering in a socket to the posts of the original sbl-1 then plugging in the new sbl-1 into the socket. It worked and now I should be able to easily replace it.? I found that hack from an internet search.? Kirk W3AW On Fri, May 1, 2020, 10:54 AM wes Bolin <k5apl41@...> wrote:

If the input SBL-1 is bad, your xmit output should be low as well.

Reading archives etc. it seems the SBL-1 mixer is easily blown.? Anybody with experience help point me in the right direction? |

I measure?4 watts output when keyed from the rear panel.? I have a new SBL-1 on order.? Thanks for input. Wes On Fri, May 1, 2020 at 12:07 PM Larry East <w1hue@...> wrote: If the input SBL-1 is bad, your xmit output should be low as well. |
开云体育If you are getting good xmtr output, it very well may NOT be the input mixer (SBL-1).? You can test further -- if you have some sort of spectrum analyzer,? check for spurious output (you might also be able to use another receiver).? Many harmonics and other "junk" from the transmitter could indicate that one leg of the mixer is shot.? This would still allow xmtr output but greatly reduce receiver sensitivity.? Do you have a schematic of the rig? If not, you can download one . Or just replace the mixer (not a minor undertaking) and see what
happens . . . 72 & Good luck.

I don't have a spectrum analyzer so can't check for spurs unless I sweep with my general coverage receiver.? BTW? What is the power Output with the pot turned all the way up on CW?? ?And what PEP output should I expect when it is working properly? Thanks again.? And the documentation that was referenced is really appreciated.? I had this radio many years ago and enjoyed it greatly, so am anxious to get this one going. Expect at least 4 - 6 W CW, depending on band.? At least 2W PEP on SSB - might get 5 if really lucky.

Larry, you mentioned that with a partial failure, power output may be low.? Is that in the 2-3 watt level or is it lower?? My QRP+ does not get 5 watts but I would enjoy the extra 3dB if I could get it. 开云体育As I recall, CW output should be 4 - 6 W, depending on band.? SSB
PEP output is less.? Haven't fooled with a QRP+ in 3 years or so.?
And my memory isn't what it used to be . . . L. On 5/1/2020 7:24 PM, AL7FS-Jim.Larsen
