QMX version 2 - brilliant

Well chaps, finished the build, implemented Hans's newest diode trick, moved the software onto the processor and connected the antenna and there you go.? The QMX immediately started receiving signals and decoded like a charm without any fiddling from my side.? Brilliant product.?

Love the success stories, don’t hear a lot here! ?Glad your build went smooth, as I’m starting the build here soon. ?Congratulations!

Some interesting testing.? I enabled the IQ mode to use the QMX as a SDR receiver. See the attached photo of HDSDR.? The QMX is fully managed by HDSDR via cat commands using Omni-Rig.? I set it up as a Kenwood 480.? The Pcm1804 and Cs4334 IC's Hans implemented provides fantastic sound on the QMX.? Apart from that, the QMX is brilliant at bringing in signals through HDSDR. Using only the wet stuff between the ears as test equipment, I find the SDR ability to bring in signals very close to my FT710 and FTDX10.? Can not wait for the SSB software update - Come on Hans !!!!!

In this IQ mode of RX operation under external software control what is the total RX frequency range? Is it more wideband than in standalone mode??

Gerald

If you alter the QMX configuration it could show all HF in 48KHz segments. Hans would have to comment about the absolute limits. (Or try it.)
Also note the demodulation is done by the SDR software, all modes within the ~48KHz bandwidth are available.

My notes on using the QDX, QMX will be the same.

Hi Gerald,
Its around 40 Khz? (HDSDR limitation - I have not found a way to enlarger this)) - example? -if the LO is set to 7110 the range will be 7090 - 7130.? Obviously you can scroll up and down the band as you like and with cat control, this is all automated.? On the monitor screen, you will however only see the 40khz part of the band.

Timo,

What version of HDSDR? Mine. v2.80 shows ~47KHz. I guess the Beta has changed this?

Of course in fact 40KHz is better, it avoids showing aliases that affect each end of the spectrum. (Alias signals are of ones that are just outside the sample rate bandwidth.)
Much modern SDR software gives this "underscan" although of course modern SDRs have a much wider bandwidth.

And so does 2.81b6.

I always forget to disable IQ mode:-)
It seems to receive OK but with low signal strength and will not TX.
