#qmx SSB Firmware beta 1_01_009 release #qmx

Hello Peter
?
may I place another q:? are there plans to have the SWR and s-meter available on the CAT interface? (or did I just - again - not see that)

You just didn't see it ;-)? ?It's already available. SWR is the CAT SW; command, S-meter is the CAT SM; command. I am currently updating the operating manual.??

I installed version 009. It seems my old laptop under Win7 can communicate with QMX again.
I'm really happy. All bands calibration was successfully done under version 008. Thank you Hans!

If I calibrate at 10v (for less PA stress) will this be OK for operation at 12V.
Chris

The whole point of calibration is to observe and adjust the
way the transmitter behaves at every output power level at the
normal operating power supply voltage.

If you calibrate at 10V, you will have a radio that is calibrated
for 10V as its full power supply voltage. It will be wrong when
you run it at 12V.

If this is what you intend to do, I would suggest that you not
calibrate your radio at all, as its factory calibration constants
are a good working compromise. Your 10V calibration will likely be
much less good than the factory default values.

Thanks, went out and tested on a SOTA activtion today. Got 4 SSB contacts on 20m, England, Austira, Switzerland and Italy. Not bad for 5w and probably not the best band conditions. Still CW is king for SOTA and QRP :-) On a dipole inv V about 6m up at center.?

Hi Hans,

I was just testing the 009 SSB calibration, from the radio's
front panel, just because, and it went through very nicely.

After it finished, I scrolled through the various results
screens (from the various calibration tests), until I was at
the 160M screen, and then wanting to back out of calibration,
to see if the results screens would still be available when I
returned, I accidentally pressed the "Menu" button, instead
of the "VFO" button, and restarted calibration from the
160M screen.

I just waited, figuring that it would go through the whole
routine once again, which was ok with me, but...

It just hovered there on the 160M Starting screen, with 5W
showing on my power meter for several minutes. I began to
think that maybe it isn't a good idea to to let it cook my
finals at full power for another few minutes waiting to see
if the calibration routine would press forward...

I pressed the "VFO" button, and aborted out of the 160M cal
routine.

If I recall correctly, the first time through it was only on
the "Starting" screen for several seconds before beginning
the phase calibration...

You might want to check to see if you are properly initializing
your variables before restarting calibration after just finishing
a full calibration.

It might even be a good idea to ask the operator if he really
intends to restart the calibration...
