QDX ... Other modes? #qdx

Any interest in say, FLDIGI modes?? I can put together a comprehensive controller UI that can shuttle data I/O to FLDIGI.? It may seem rather odd, but I find the FLDIGI UI a bit "much" and I like a simpler chat style setup that allows me to pick mode at will and control the radio, all in one package.

If there is any interest, holler and I'll pick up the gauntlet and make it happen this week.

I'm interested Mitch, I love trying out new things. Go for it I say!

Robbie

I am also interested Please let me know when it is available Thanks de Bill N3GTY?

Will do all.? I will probably create another group on groups.io so we don't inundate the main QRPLabs list with emails.? I'll post here when that is accomplished.

Making headway.? Basics are functional now.? What you see here is FLDIGI using the QDX as the sound card naturally.? Working on the message formatting.? Eventually we'll have these devices connectable to the internet via my AWS account (for dev and test) also.? Remote control over the device via internet in a web browser, with chat, presence, etc.? More to come.

Apply to groups.io group "qdxpro" to get in on the fun.

Done

Though groups.io signed me up for qdxpro and sent me info on smtmodem. Weird!

Not really weird. I morphed an unused group to this new name. All in good time, it will get cleaned up. Thanks for patience all.

Oh, I thought it was me. I have a subscription to the TAPRN group who has some folks
working on a SMT version.

Anyway I can help, just ask and I'll see what I can do.

I'm in that group as well. And I was expecting to help Jason out with that project by admin'ing a group, but he's so far along that I let it drop.

Hi Mitch,
Apply to groups.io group "qdxpro" to get in on the fun.
before I launch myself into that other group:
Will that MOD of Fldigi be Windows or Linux?

I'm on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS but I do not have capacity to fiddle with manual builds and stuff. Installing a .deb packet no problem ... but if that's not the avenue, I'll be out for now.

Thanks & VY73
Stefan.

Win to get it stable, then Linux, RPi and lastly Mac (will take a while for Mac due to having to switch library versions)

The rest of the answer is that for Linux, it will be a zip install with a shell script to start the program.??

Easiest way (for me) to manage Linux updates is a little script that can do a git pull of release files and unzip them in place, overwriting the old ones.

I don't expect anyone to build anything.? This is not currently open source.

Thanks for the reminder, BTW.? Linux will be Ubuntu 22 or later, Debian 11 or later?(x86 or ARM) due to Qt5 library versioning.
Windows 10 and 11 are supported.? MacOS is a mystery at this point.

Tried RTTY and PSK31 using FLDIGI on Linux out of curiosity.? RTTY works, PSK31 does not, as it is not a frequency shift mode - I did wonder if the phase would be a sort of frequency shift, but evidently not when the manual is consulted :-)
It would be useful to omit the modes which QDX does not support, would save numerous individual experiments,? Regards,? Ed? G8BQR

To repeat earlier comments on this:

Any digi mode that is represented as distinct discrete tones are doable.

Any digi mode that has phase or amplitude components are not doable,
Such as QPSK, PSK31.

Yes. For example, QDX works with FSQ in text mode but it doesn't work with the FSQ image transmission mode which is similar to SSTV. The baseband signal (tone) is frequency modulated by the video signal and it is moving too fast for QDX to keep track.

Join the group and we can all discuss it without clogging the QRPLabs list.

Much of this has already been taken care of.
