QDX

Fred,
It is showing out for delivery and has been in Houston for 2 days.?

A friend of mine on a QCX mini order several months ago ended up getting a piece of medical equipment from Turkey but no QCX. He was able to track down the real owner of the medical equipment and the Dr. was happy, paid for shipping but the QCX never showed up anywhere. There was a switcharoo on the shipping labels. Hans ended up sending him another one which he received but it took numerous weeks.?

And as I was typing this, The FedEx truck showed up? and delivered my QDX!! WooHoo!
It actually ended well!!

I've noticed that publicly complaining just slightly prematurely actually helps in cases like this.? It warps space time or something.? I am actually not being completely facetious either.?

Yes it's just silly tracking. Not reality. TNT and FedEx are the same company since 2016. In much the same way as oil and water are both liquids. Or 803s and STM32F401RBT6 are both electronics.?

I wonder if that isn't the FedEx hub they are transferring it to FedEx at?? I had something similar to that happen on my one order (out of three so far) that I got from Turkey.? I don't think I would panic until next week.? Mine just showed up a couple of days after that happened to me. No explanation and it never showed as delivered afterwards (I checked out of curiosity a few times).? ?I am in AZ south of Tucson too..?

There are always going to be lost packages, what is ever 100%...

Very roughly:?

We send around 500 packages a month of which around 75% are via TNT/FedEx, the others by post office airmail.?

Post office airmail is much slower, but the loss rate is very near zero.?

The loss rate with TNT/FedEx is around 1%. It tends to be a more for US customers due to the TNT/FedEx Oil/Water thing whereas outside US it is less, as they tend to use legacy TNT networks so there isn't an unreliable transition into legacy FedEx networks.?

In any case of loss, I send a replacement at my own expense. I separately pursue a compensation claim that normally results in repayment of the freight cost and a rather small fraction of the order value.?

Seven days delivery time to Serbia by airmail, and no additional costs! I was able to track the package very precisely for the last five days, and today I even met the postman in the street and took it away from him, before he came to my building! :)?
I will start reading the manual now and hopefully build the QDX over the weekend.

Thank you for the perfect service! And I will be making another order for some components in a week or so :)

P.S.
Courier services have abysmal business practices in some countries where they charge hidden fees for coordinating with customs, so it is very good to have an option for ordinary mail.

Fred and Mike,

I also suffered the Houston Heart Attack a year or so ago for another order.? It was stated out for delivery there ¡ but showed up at my door North of Prescott within an hour or three of receiving the OFD (OoFDuh!) notification.

I¡¯d vote for the space-time warp theory too, given the wacky things seen in the skies over the ¡°dessert¡± Out There ¡ I Want To Believe ¡ The Truth Is Out There ¡ but it¡¯s usually just Consequences ¡ New Mexico ¡ talk about?space-time warps!? Cue the theme music ¡ Doo-Doo Doo-Doo DOO-Doooooo ¡ awww, jeez, who let the dog in here???

Me too and in this case, it worked! :)) My mini order in the spring went perfectly also, Tracking et all..... I snagged the QDX package from the FedEx driver, he didn't even have to step of the truck and I ran back into the house before it could be beamed to HOUSTON! :))

Might not be able to start the build till later next week due to other commitments.?

Hi All,?

Back in the day when Royal Mail had the job of getting the kits to you the loss rate was about five percent if my memory serves me well. I had the job of putting the parts in the bags and taking them to the post?office. You get a much better service now, with fewer missing parts.?

Can someone tell me the shipping point for US orders? I look at Informed Delivery but I suspect it won¡¯t say the shipment is from QRPLabs. It seems that #163 should be in the mail, due to the reported delivery yesterday of #150 above. I haven¡¯t received an Order Completed email and unfortunately I didn¡¯t register with the store due to the wonkyness of it being overwhelmed.?

It will come from Sedalia, MO. I believe

Mine should arrive today according to the USPS.

Hi Don

Your order number is 50163 and is 9th in line for US shipment.?

50150 was shipped from Turkey as the order contained other items which were not available in US.?

Whether?or not you registered with the store, you will receive a notification email from the store when the kit ships.?

Yes, I knew that an email was supposed to be sent but you also mention spam filters, so that¡¯s why I mentioned it.?

Nothing new this morning ??

I continue waiting with breath like bait.?

Thanks Hans.?

My QDX + enclosure showed up on my doorstep this morning.

I guess I never looked too closely at the dimensions, this thing is pocket-sized.
I was expecting an enclosure of about 5 x 6 inches it is more like 2 x 3 inches so it is absolutely tiny !?

This is going to be fun, thanks Hans !?

Cheers

Yes, to quote the old adage, small is beautiful. I¡¯m hoping Bluetooth will be added to devices like this and good control software written for Android and iPHones. Then we could have an all-band, all-mode (including digital) transceivers that¡¯ll slip easily into a coat pocket. At least with Bluetooth the antenna could be removed from the smartphone.

Less the antennas of course. For HF they¡¯re much harder to shrink down.
