QCX constant keying

Just got finished building the QCX 20 meter rig. rx was perfect but low power on the output. somehow after removing and replacing the filter torrids a few times now the rig just stays keying. If straight key is selected then constant keydown. if bug is selected then just? one continues string of dits.

Before I go tearing everything apart, does anyone have any suggestions? Been there done that??

Sounds like you have created a short to ground on IC2 pin 19.? Confirm with a multi-meter and take a close look over the PCB with a lamp and magnifying glass looking for a solder splash.

feedback to the group how you go with the issue and fix.

My QCX does the same thing. I found that I apparently sparked pin 19 (I think) of the micro controller. It is grounded internally and does that I have a new chip on the way.

Pin 19 has about 300ohms to ground. If I pull the IC the pad is infinite to ground.

John,

Check the stereo key jack. ?Sounds like one of the jack's connections are shorted to ground.

If it's still keying with the pin lifted then the ic leg input is likely damaged and a new processor ic will be required.
