No new group please!

What use it is to split the group?
None at all I think.

And why can I not reply to the annoncement, but have to start a new topic?

I agree.? Do not split the group.? It will just make it
more difficult to find things.

Yes, I see no point either, it is all together here.
Why make another place to search and ask?

Personally, IMHO, the world is on fire with FB social media. Easy to attach photos to your post and have a nice GUI for the thread. Forums are kind of old school and a thing of the past. It looks like several people feel strongly but I have to ask.... you dont like it... dont join, you like it join... whats the harm? "Split" group... not really, just another venue.

I will dissolve the group if the overwhelming opinion is negative.

Former Facebook exec says social media is ripping apart society

Nobody is trying to "split" the present group, only trying to add a new more modern venue for fans and QRP enthusiasts.

Erm, so you 've not used the groups.io GUI then ?

Here we post photo's, view message threads, and even upload binary files in a repository.

You should try it sometime ;-)

Group.io is great via the GUI.

And neither do you have to sell your soul to Zuckerburg who will turn you into a marketable commodity whilst expecting
YOU to prove who you are just to join in.

If I want to prove my ID, then it will be when I renew my passport or drivers licence to a reputable authority,? thank you very much.

Will the new group lose content in the same way that messages eventually disappear from other Facebook groups?? If so, there is a loss of valuable accumulated knowledge that does not happen with old-school email groups.

Take a look at how the Elecraft message board is organized.? It's all one group but there are several sub-groups suck as K3, K2, QRO, for different products.? Works great.

Bill NZ0T,
Now that makes sense.
QCX,U3S,balloon flights..etc..separate sub topics rather than blended all together....good idea.

One group implemented tags to make filtering what messages you wanted to see at least.? Of course people had to remember to place the tags.? People have to use it to make it effective.??? Just being a user and not a manager of the group I'm not sure how it would work.

Michael

This is one /g/QRPLabs/hashtags

Do not know who allocates the Tags, but they are there. Guess you can make your own when a subject is started.
