Kit building

I am not familiar with protocol for these micro switches used in basically all the QRP Labs kits, I have to assume them being 4 pin that there is a right and wrong way of installing them?

Anyone with a quick tip? I am setting at the soldering iron right now. Working on a clock kit

Hi Seth,

Solution 1

Image result for tact switch schematic

Solution 2 - check with a multi-meter.

Hi Seth

The footprint isn't square. You can only comfortably fit the button onto the PCB in the correct orientation.

Thanks guys,?

I am finally building up several items I¡¯ve ordered this last year. ?Didn¡¯t realize it wasn¡¯t square. ?I built a Progrock and QLG-1 last night. ?Hope to get the clock done today, and move on to the VFO next. ?

One day I am going to order up one of those CW rigs. ?

yes those snap-in switches!? note the connections are to hold the part on the board (long enough to solder) as well as electrical connection.? it's a feature - a rare part that won't fall off the board when soldering!?

keep asking questions, even if only to yourself!? sometimes your DVM can solve the mystery - if not, ask.? expect to run into 'strange-to-you' parts as you build.?

enjoying this craft in bite-sized pieces is the way-to-go.? you seem to be doing well.?

do determine a kit you will use afterwards -- the U3S is fun to see where your RF is going (or not in these days of scarcer ions) -- and the QCX is a fun rig to operate.?

Curt,?

I have had a good time working on this stuff. ?It¡¯s really great therapy! ?I look forward to the vfo / sig gen project! ?That will be very useful in the shack. ?Hans truly has some great stuff going on here! ?
