Available Hand Mics for QMX SSB ?

Do any of the commercially available hand microphones for existing QRP radios work with the new QMX SSB?
?
Or perhaps pre-wired adapters for those mics already in the marketplace?

Any built for the (tr)uSDX will have the correct wiring.

Thanks, Stan.

For anyone who''s looking at their Heil HTH-* handy talky headset, like me, here are the three wirings that would need to be adapted.
?
?
Don't know why I couldn't find it at Heil's website.? I'm really tired of these lists of "it works with x, y, z, & c." without actually specifying what it does.

I just made one of these for my QMX+:
?
I have the parts on hand to make 9 more if anyone is interested. You will need to provide your own cord.
?
I have PLA on hand to make the case in Black, White, Matte navy blue, Light green, purple, tan, orange, or brown.
?
I can provide the parts (3D printed PLA case, MIC element, pushbutton switch, and 3.5mm TRS jack) as a kit for $10, or fully assembled for $15 anywhere in USA.
?
My email is good on QRZ if you are interested

While my license does not allow for "commercial" sales, I can clearly see that this is not a money making venture and is instead simply a favor to other hams. Consider this approval to proceed. ?

Adam has a few different wiring configurations listed for the mic; which one has been found to work with the QMX?

Thanks.

Matt, from the beta firmware download page:
?

Microphone Connection:

The microphone is plugged into the QMX Paddle port; this stereo 3.5mm jack plug is for both the microphone signal AND the PTT switch.?

  • Ring-to-ground is the microphone connection
  • Tip-to-ground is for PTT (close the connection tip-to-ground to initiate transmiussion)

You want the version for the (tr)uSDK and uSDX (if you download this now, it will also list the QMX which makes it much easier to pick the correct one).?

Thanks Adam. I'm just trying to make it easy for more people to enjoy the SSB upgrade.. And you made a great little mic case.

Qrpguys has a kit that should work. I ordered one to try it out.

Erik

I just sent money for a microphone. Please pick out a very macho color for me. Address is good in the PayPal or on QRZ.

I have had a really good response to this offer to kit together the mics, and with Adam's approval ('cuz it's his mic design) I have ordered more parts so the limit of 9 has as of now been removed. If you want me to kit one for you for $10 or build it for you for $15, I can do so. The only thing is, we have to wait 45 minutes per case for the printer to make them, so don't expect me to ship overnight. It will likely be Monday now before the new parts get here and I can ship more than the original 9.

I made a simple adapter that crosses tip and ring from a jack and a short length of cord and plug so that I can use any several mics I already have.

Thank you Eric, and thank you Adam! My housing is printed and I await the fiddly bits!

I just got a Baofeng ht spkr mic. ?Going to clip the spkr lead on the cable so no load if it makes contact upon insertion. The 3.5mm is a 4 contact but it appears to have the correct tip to Gnd and mic to ring (1st ring). Not sure if it’s going to work. Will try once I get the new fw loaded.

I’m really curious if the Bearcat BC906w wireless mic could be wired up for this. It would most likely need an interface box with power since it needs 8 volts to operate. I believe a 9 volt would also work. I think it draws around 65ma. That being said I’m curious if the headphone audio is high enough to work with this mic. I have no idea if the wireless dongle amplifies it or if there’s an amplifier ckt in the wireless mic. It uses 1.9 ghz dect technology for communication. Range is reportedly 100 meters.
