Gizmo, aka? U3 WSPR, has died. It ran great for three days and I went to turn it on yesterday and sparks flew, his eyes slowly closed, his leg gave a twitch and it was all over. Postmortem? performed today............ The microprocessor is dead but I ordered a new one a few days ago. . The DDS board is toast. Ordered a new one . The GPS board is toast. Ordered a new one. . The LCD readout is toast, but I had a spare.?? I am making a new power supply.The power supply was the trouble maker. Sometimes when it rains there is lighting! All I can do is laugh and do it all over again. Carl? AB1ZI

Wow, that is bad news. I am curious? what got the GPS and uP. They are downstream of the 5v regulator. 120vac get thru?

Is it possible that input voltage reversed or too high unregulated.Ddid you find some spike or surge during that moment?
mostly mains surge or lightening strike are possibl;e major reasons.? How ever , it is painful to lolose n equimwent in such bad way? .

One of the resistors on a lm317 blew and sent sparks up out of the PS. Had to have a high voltage spike drive through everything. Parts are on order but I think it will be a long time before they get shipped. I am in line for orders. Carl
