50 Watt PA with KX3

Has anyone used a KX3 with the QRP Labs 59 watt amp? ?If so, how did you do it?

Hi I have used this but CW only, The KX3 has superb power control

Andrew, ?Thanks. Yes, CW only. I should have stated that in the question.?

I added this mod inside my 50W amp to add low-active PTT capability without disturbing the existing high-active PTT.? Then I wired up a PTT cable that connected the KX2's PTT signal to the tip of the cable's 3.5 mm plug.? I'm guessing it's that same as what would be needed for the KX3.

This looks like a great method and eliminates the box I was working on to go between the KX3 (ACC2) and the amp. ?Thank you! ?I knew there was a brain-trust out there.?

You're welcome ... and here is a photo showing how I built it.

Perfect. No perf board required.?

Just remember to turn the power down on the KX3. The 50W PA is not meant to handle over 5 watts input. Bad things will happen including blowing up the IFR510 transistors and various diodes. Ask me how I know!

Thanks, Steve. Always a good reminder. I never give the amp more than 3 watts. I seldom push it to 50 watts out anyway.?
