开云体育Please join us Thursday (and every Thursday) at 4PM Eastern for the Michigan QRP Club weekly QRP Chat where the main topics will be QRP and other ham interests. This weeks topic will be LPF design and construction. We had eleven folks join us for the chat on 19 September. The topic was CW Practice. Ed AB8DF Pete WK8S Tony W8CDC Rick K8BMA Stuart M0SGV John M7FCZ Ernie W3ETE Fred WD9HNU Ron W8CV Casey K9IH Dave N8SBE It was John’s first time joining us. He is newly licensed. He uses a 20 meter end feed but he is in a HOA situation. Does kits. STEM ambassador working with adults changing careers. Rick learned with the old way with a chart. Long Island CW Club member. Taught LICWC for a while then did? CW Academy and ended up using CW Innovations. He recommends group participation. It does not happen overnight. Ron does 15 wpm. Listens to ARRL code practice. Hand writing is too slow and he is sloppy sending at higher speeds. Trying to copy in his head. Wants to get on 80 meters with a 40 meter loop. Ernie says that CW Academy has files that you can listen to get practice with head copy. Do not try to do 100% copy. They have the most common words used in a QSO. Learned the old way and needed to relearn to do head copy. Records and plays back QSOs. Learn Mose Code on the youtube. It was nice when there were lots on Novices on the air cuz there was always slow CW stations to work. Dave likes . Also contesting helps copy callsigns. Stuart does 14 wpm and it seems that there is an obsession with folks trying to speed.? Tony wishes he could unlearn CW so he could focus on words and not individual characters. Machine generated and computer decode is that what people do?
