QMX SSB and non-FSK digimodes

I am testing ARIM + ARDOP between QMX+dummy load and TS590+normal antenna. I can hear both signals both ways very well.??

ARDOP listening to QMX can decode all frames. ARDOP on TS590 cannot receive a single frame sent via QMX. QMX mode is set to DIGI.

I think I should rather use USB, right?

Yes, Ardop should use USB mode rather than Digi. Some early experiments with ardopcf and a QMX in Digi mode suggest that it can work to a limited extent with FSKONLY TRUE, but it works much better with the new beta SSB capabilities. If you are trying to send PSK or QAM data frames in Digi mode they will always fail. For FEC mode in ARIM, you may need to also specifically choose an FSK data mode such as 4FSK.500.100 or 4FSK.200.50S to be at all usable in Digi mode. Does the received signal that say you hear very well appear strong and well centered on the waterfall plot in the ardopcf WebGui for the radio that is not decoding anything? If not, the issue may be with the receive audio settings for connection to that radio. See also item 3 in Hans's current known issues list: "PTT is disengaging in USB mode if there is a pause in USB audio being sent.". The very latest code for ardopcf in the develop branch (since Pull Request #140) has problems with this. Peter LaRue AI7YN |

Hi Jindra? In SSB firmware 003 there's a bar under the 'A' when in transmit with audio. When in transmit without audio it would be a dot under the 'A' (top left character of the display, the VFO symbol). So this can help to debug issues.? I've been using Pat with ardopcf on my Pi400 on 20m and I get WinLink working reliably daytime with 3W to OCFD antenna, to my nearest server which is LZ3CB 635km away. So it does work...
