Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
The most important parameter for a receiving antenna is noise immunity. Any unbalanced antenna like an OCF or end-fed wire is a poor choice. Any indoor antenna is a terrible choice, because it will be

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Alan, QRM is the reason for wanting to go outside as inside all kind of power supplies happily buzz along. I have literally checked each of them and replaced a substantial number but the? alarm

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Eric, For RX often getting the antenna, whatever it is, as far away from QRM as possible is the most important thing. I'm in a quiet situation so I do not find the performance an amplified loop close

Very long QLG1 Time-to-First-GPS-Fix #qlg
The interfaces & LEDs on my just-completed QLG1 board work as expected.? However, the measured time-to-first-GPS-fix values are much longer than those listed in the YIC5 data sheet: Acquisition Time:

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Thanks for all the advice. This is what I understood. For receiving only the resonance is not that important so an end-fed wire with some form of ground or counterpoise (random piece of wire hanging

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Yes, there is no answer. Many of us have tried someone's favourite antenna and discovered that in a different backyard it does not work well at all. Even "working well" depends on what you want, DX or

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Hi Erik, If you're just receiving then the antenna won't be radiating (unless you're transmitting.)? You'll probably find that the G5RV will work pretty well for your purposes, though you might also

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Erik Try what you describe as it should radiate. Its not unusual for our antennas to be non ideal. With close spacing the ladder line will radiate less than the aerial.? being at a right angle even

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
For a receive only situation many would say the mag loop would be your best bet. With your application being receive-only much of the concerns raised really effect transmitting and matching.

Re: Receive Module
Vince, You are not receiving WSPR signals. What do you see if you remove the audio lead from the RX? Do not take it out at the computer end, that can confuse if Windows thinks there is nothing there.

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Hello Eric, Take a look at this solution from Palomar. No other parts needed except coax and the wire. We used about 50' of RG-58 and it worked well with 100 watts. Palomar has a number of solutions

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Good day Erik; ? Years ago I put up a Mini G5RV when I was living in an apartment. The 300 ohm twin lead came off the flat top at about a 45 degree angle. My first G5RV which had a 102¡¯ flat top

Till now I have used the received module with an amplified wide band magnetic loop. Now I'm looking into a dipole. Due to space constraints and stealth requirements the 1/2 size g5rv multi band dipole

Re: how to set the non volatile configuration in the 5351 chip?
Hi Justin You cannot. Only SiLabs can prepare a chip with this "non-volatile" start-up configuration programmed. And you probably have to order 100,000 of the chips or something crazy, to get them to
