Re: QDX Isues with sWindows10

Hi Evan, Ok, on your cables and laptop swapping. You turned off the USB sleep in the Windows Power Settings, right? It is a bit buried in the menus there, but potentially your USB connection might be going to sleep? I have mine set to never sleep. FWIW I have a very aggressive anti-virus watch on my laptop¡? 73, Gregg On Sat, Nov 13, 2021 at 8:27 AM Evan Hand <elhandjr@...> wrote: Hi Greg, |

Evan
? I found on Windows that often I have to go into WSJT-X settings and reselect the QDX audio. Even though the settings show QDX choices - I don't get a signal until I select the QDX audio input and output yet again. ? Also - in Windows if you right click on the speaker and select "sounds" to get the sound window? then select recording device tab and select QDX properties you can select "listen to device". Then from the task bar select you actual speakers as output and you can monitor the QDX receiver output. -- ? 73 ??? KD8CGH |
Re: Wondering ?
I have the gas tube lightening arrestors on my EFHW antenna. So far, so good... Jack, W8TEE

Wow! I¡¯ve alsways wondered about putting some lightning arrestors for my wire antennas but never have. Perhaps it¡¯s time to do so. Curious anyone on the list do this w their wire antennas? Re: QDX firmware 1.01c with aids for debugging no-transmit-RF issues
Hi all,?
As well as a band tx inhibit modification (I too don¡¯t have a resonant aerial for 30 metres or for 80 meters) an output to indicate what band is in use would be nice. Then I could use it to switch in an appropriate matching circuit.? Brilliant kit.? Steve G0XAR |
Re: QDX Isues with sWindows10

Hi Greg,
The short answer is I have tried multiple cables and multiple computers.? The only common thing is the anti-virus and malware software on them.? That is why I plan to try disabling the protection software to see if it solves the issue. I have tried changing bands, even power cycling the QDX.? Something is causing an issue that it takes a couple of resets to make work again. BTW, I let the QDX connected to the Raspberry Pi 4 run all night, and it is still decoding on the active bands. 73 Evan AC9TU |
Re: QDX - RX and TX stopped working on 80 meters only
Thanks for the responses
?? As stated in OP, I'm using firmware 1-01.c - the three blinks should indicate that the QDX thinks it's transmitting. Also the current draw increases so something changes when it goes into transmit. ?? I did try a dummy load - no joy ? Evan - I'll try checking the diodes in the LPF. The thing that really got me is that receive is also dead, as in 0 db shown in WSJT-X. There are entirely different circuits selecting the BPF and LPF and both stopped working. -- ? 73 ??? KD8CGH |

Please,
Tell me like ¡°NanoVNA for idiots¡±, as you would tell a child, how I use my NanoVNA to measure accurately the uH L values for the inductors going into my QDX. I might be able to figure it out on my own but might screw it up and if you know how to do it right, it sounds like it would be worthwhile. thanks & 73 |

Thank you for that info, Stan. Looks a bit meatier than I'm ever likely to need, but it would certainly do the job? :-)

Fw: [QRPLabs] CAT Problem maybe?
Thanks again for the info.

The problem is a setting in L32. Got QDX working all ok with Logger32 Cherry Picker. Now need to find out where my missing 1Watt is! 73 Ian G4GIR ----- Original Message -----

Think it maybe a setting in L32 now. Will keep you updated. 73 Ian G4GIR ----- Original Message ----- From: Alan G4ZFQ <alan4alan@...> Reply-To: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: 13/11/2021 09:32:30 Subject: Re: [QRPLabs] CAT Problem maybe? ________________________________________________________________________________ On 13/11/2021 09:16, Alan G4ZFQ via groups.io wrote: Hmm. Re: JS8 QSO Party this weekend
Any thoughts about having an "@QRPLABS" or "@QRPQDX" callsign group?
I've been lurking on JS8Call's 40m frequency. It's good to see Hans getting behind JS8Call, I see a lot of heartbeats but not much traffic. I hope the popularity of QDX will get more hams involved. Thanks! --Al WD4AH |
Re: QX off Frequency
Alan, I got similar results with mine at 24.999910 and it also appears stable. I¡¯ve not seen them this far off before.? Ron On Sat, Nov 13, 2021 at 01:09 Alan G4ZFQ <alan4alan@...> wrote: On 13/11/2021 07:08, Shirley Dulcey KE1L wrote: |
JS8 QSO Party this weekend
New QDX owners may have an opportunity for QSO's with their counterparts here:
/g/js8call/viewevent?eventid=1123335 Not mentioned on that particular page (but elsewhere): it starts at 1900Z Saturday. I plan to check in periodically with my 5 watts.....no - with 5000 milliwatts. -- John AE5X |

Hi Julian,
The EFHW I have is from KD8UJM on .? I wanted to get on the air so bought this one after some looking around. I attached a VSWR plot of the antenna from 3 MHz to 33 MHz.? Top of screen is 3:1, middle is 2:1 so you can see it over the HF band. I run the QDX on a 9V lithium battery - attached a picture of that too.? Ran on 80m last night on WSPR for 6 hours. I live in a rural area on several acres, so I have the antenna near a corner of my house, and then sloping upward to a tree using a rope.? ?The antenna wire is around 130 feet long. Thanks.
