Re: QMX TX'ing with a 3kHz pan adapter in HDSDR (just tested in CWT)
Hi Zhenxing,
?
thanks for the reply so maybe there is a direct solution. I found out I can use the I/Q stream for listening, but I would also like to transmit in CW appropriately, using the keyer attached to the QMX.
Maybe I have to fiddle with HDSDR to get a proper setup, as presently I do not hear the tx audio (sidetone) via HDSDR.

NM0S has 7 QRPoMeter kits in stock.? See at? I have one that I assembled, and it works as it should. Not as small as you may want but not too large either. Re: My second QMX+
No, it is not a kit, I developed this box for easy and fast tuning of my loop antenna. Changing the band or the frequency gives a SWR of 20 or more, so it would be difficult to tune with the QMX+ because of its SWR protection, which is a good solution protecting the PA FETs. I used a box similar to the QMX+ available from amazon. I named this loop tuning box 'SWR+' - hope to have no legal problems with Hans because of this. attached an inside picture of the device.

Re: I have a craving...
开云体育Actually QRPguys do have a QRP Power/SWR/Dummy Load kit that works reasonably well. ?I modified the switch on mine so the antenna/Dummy Load switch selects between the two, as you would expect. Unmodified the antenna is placed in parallel with the dummy load. ?A friend operated a whole Field Day with the Dummy Load absorbing half the signal. DUH!Unfortunately Don Hendrix is having medical issues and QRPguys is not shipping.? Dave On Jan 23, 2025, at 10:00, Will Grocott M0LGW via groups.io <wjcgrocott@...> wrote:

I tend to measure the insides of my barrel plugs by shaving down a flat piece of wood (tongue depressor size) to approximately the right width, poking it into the plug, and shaving it till it fits without too much force. THen measure it with calipers. (The internal-measurement jaws of a caliper don't QUITE work for the task by themselves.

Re: PCM1804 issues - probably resolved
Page 31 of the TI datasheet for the PCM1804 shows 4 different part numbers, same as DigiKey:
The PCM1804DB comes from TI packaged as 47 parts to a tube.
The PCM1804DBR comes from TI packaged as 2000 parts on a tape, wound up on a reel.
Also PCM1804DBG4 and PCM1804DBRG4 with no expanation of what the extra "G4" might mean.
?
A web search found this:
"There are no differences between the G4 and non-G4 suffix devices. These devices are an exact equivalent in every way.? Initially the G4 suffix part number was created during the RoHS conversion process to differentiate between RoHS/REACH compliant devices (ending with G4 suffix) and the non RoHS/REACH compliant devices. This was done ~20 years ago, however, and both part numbers have now been converted to the RoHS/REACH compliant bill of materials (BOM)." ?
The RoHS directive?restricts the use of?lead, mercury, cadmium, and certain flame retardants.
?
When searching for a hobbyist buy of almost any small electronic part on DigiKey or Mouser I filter for
the "cut tape" variant, where they cut a few parts off the end of a reel and put them in a baggie.
That drastically reduces the number of buying choices it spits out.

CW Practice / Rag Chew Announcement
开云体育I will be doing another CW on the air practice
session Saturday,?25 January?at 11:00 AM Eastern Time, 16:00 UTC on 17 meters. Why 17 meters? This weekend is Winter Field Day and I do not want to interfere with it. Also VOACAP says 17 meters is going to be open to most of the US. ?Anyone is
welcome. This practice is intended for operators who
are new to CW or they need some practice. IT DOES
NOT MATTER HOW POOR YOUR CW IS. Mistakes are OK.
Poor fists are OK. Slow speed is OK. Really slow
speed is OK. This practice is meant for you to
improve your CW. I will do my best to adjust to your
skill level. Operate at any power level. If several
stations show up, I will operate as a round-table
control station. I will do it as a round-table so
everyone gets a chance to transmit. Please listen to
my directions.
Details: Date - Saturday, January 25 2025 Time - 10:00 AM Eastern Time 16:00 UTC Band - 17 Meters How to find me - I will find a clear frequency and call CQ. Go to the Reverse Beacon Network and search for my call sign AB8DF. That will tell you what
frequency I am on. Tune your station to that
frequency and if you hear me give me a call. If
there is a QSO in progress, please wait for a break
in the action. Then send your callsign. If I hear
you, I will invite you to join the QSO and start a
round-table QSO. Reply to this email if you have questions. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW POOR CW IS Ed AB8DF |

Use the shank of a 2.5mm drill as Stan said. There are many different suppliers. I have 2.1mm plugs that look identical to the 2.5mm ones except for diameter.

It is easy to just look at them.? The one with the yellow insert and the two indents which form a spring is the 2.1mm and the one which is straight metal is the 2.5mm.

The insert isn't always yellow, it is sometimes black for example, but the other differences remain the same ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: QMX+ reliability
This initially useful topic seems to have turned into a debate along the lines of whether engine oil should be changed as the manufacturer recommends and if olive oil will do…?
?
Where some will say ‘always and not a minute later’ someone else never changed it and ‘it still runs after 2 years’
?
Both miss the point. ? ?
The designer/manufacturer is in a particularly good and well informed position to consider the issues and make important recommendations about their design. ? Equally it’s ham radio. ?
You have an indisputable right to hack/blow your gear up - but no right to complain or bad-mouth it if you do it knowingly against wiser advice? ? |
