Re: QMX T507 winding

Giuseppe it looks like you have 2 turns of the #22 (0.60 mm) wire on the T507 transformer. I believe the #22 wire should only got through each side of the core one time!!

QDX High band..won't

I just completed the high band version (5) of the QDX.
Everything seems to be correct and all continuity tests are a go.
Problem is it will not go above 20M.
I have installed the jumper, but no go.
Any ideas

Re: QMX RX "carrier" noise

Thank you Mike and Mike. I didn't know this had not yet been implemented in firmware.? All part of the fun. Each FW update is like a little gift.

Re: Message repeat doesn't #qmx

Yep. That works! Thanks, Jonathan!!

Hi Randy,

Are you starting transmission by pressing the right encoder or the left (select) button?? The QMX works the same as the QCX series in that the left button repeats but pressing the encoder only sends once.

I have experienced a lot of glitchiness with the QMX messages.? In my case it appears that most of the problems were due to corrupted message configurations from editing in the terminal with my backspace key set incorrectly.? However, after a factory reset and configuring the messages using the CW decoder it does appear that repeat works properly.? Firmware 1_00_009.

In future firmware the SMPS frequency will be automatically adjusted to move the harmonics out of the way.

Re: QMX - smoke - another C107/Q108 failure

Hi Hans

Thanks for your help so far?

So I checked the mainboard by
  • supplying 3V3 from a linear regulator - CPU runs (can connect putty)
  • installing the 3V3 SMPS board then applying 12V to the switched +12V line - runs OK so the 3V3 SMPS is good
  • supplying 5V from linear regulator - with a voltage divider to feed ADC_5V - as you can see the measured 5V is looking good but the processor still detects an error - see screenshot

Ideas how to bypass that so I can complete checks ?

Regards

Rick

Re: QMX where can I find the future #qmx

Been there and done that. Only mention I found was SSB and quoting the QRP-Labs writeup, "until and if SSB is implemented". I am assuming that there is a plan somewhere for the future development of QMX and asked about it. Just doing my due diligence and gathering all the data I can before making a decision to purchase one.
Thanks for your input, Billy

Re: QMX RX "carrier" noise

Normal for now. It is alpha firmware after all. Eventually Hans will sort it out

Yes I have a lot here at home in the UK that came from my old British Telecom (BT) routers and mesh discs.

Very RF quiet.

Re: Recording Message Memories

Got It!!! Thanks Jonathan, that did the trick! "Enable Edit" was off.

Thanks!
Randy? N1SP

Re: Recording Message Memories

Also, you need to configure the message from the menu, if you were not doing so. ?I don't think you can edit the messages from the transmission interface.

Re: Recording Message Memories

There's a separate "Enable edit" setting in the CW Decoder menu that you need to enable, if you have not already.

Hope this helps,

Recording Message Memories

N1SP

I've used my QCX Mini for some time, but am just now trying to record some memories for the "Skeeter Hunt" contest. Granted, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but referring to pages 9 and 14 in the operations manual. I get the following results...

1) Long press of encoder- Results in "1" appearing at left bottom of screen, no text.

2) Short press of "Select " button - The number "1" disappears and an "M' appears beside the frequency display. (Perhaps these steps are to send, not record???)

3) When I key with my paddles, sidetone is heard and there is no power output.

4) After this process there is no message text recorded

I have tried this with the TX decoded both on and off. (When decoded is on, I do see what I am sending) I much prefer to record from my paddles but am willing to manually enter text- but no idea how to access the selectable characters.

Driving me nuts! Probably simple, but I just am not understanding it.

Thanks in advance for any step by step guidance.

Dear Hans, thank you for your clear and extensive reply. Yes I appreciate that you have many considerations and compromises to make. The QMX is a fantastic piece of electronic art and fun to build, thank you for that! Cheers and 73 de HA7RJA
